The gloves may have helped pac a bit but on this night Morales was just the better fighter. Im a huge Pacman fan but i can admit it was just not his night.
wasent the night at all he looked good just got exploited.
kadyo, Merchant has been a certified Pac nuthugger since the Ledwaba fight. He had attempted to be a Ledwaba ***** before, for God knows why. But a few weeks after Pac destroyed Ledwaba, Merchant had a picture of Pac along with pictures of other contenders that HBO will show while Merchant hypes the guys he likes. He's had some guys on before that turned out to be complete ****...
Wladimir for instance.
The gloves...yeah whatever I'm not buying that excuse either. Say Morales would've had the Reyes gloves on too. Pac wasn't exactly looking invincible against Morales' power. So there's nothing saying Pac wouldn't have been knocked out.
The gloves was a mental game, that's all. It was good strategy by Morales' camp. Wait until the night of the fight, enforce the contracted rule about the gloves, and this is already Morales imposing his will over Pacquiao before they even get into the ring. So Morales goes in with that mental edge, and Pac clearly feels less comfortable using these totally different gloves.
Oh and I should be the President of the Larry Merchant Must Die club. I've hated him from the very first time I saw him. Even before my friend, who got me into boxing, said anything I was calling Merchant a ****** before the night was out. Couldn't even tell you what he said, but I know he was being a little ****head like always.
Anybody else wanna beat the hell out of him every time he starts his bull**** "final thought"?
oh come on, the blood will get in your eyes, how couldn't you believe it? have you been in that before (having some part of your body that was bloodied?) that would lose some confidence in you thinking that you are wounded. and that cut was because of an accidental head butt.
Sigh..what I meant by my post was that regardless of the cut, it would have been nice if just once the guy that lost would be able to admit that for that night, if ONLY for that night, he just wasnt the better fighter..and then I called myself niave for wishing something like that.
and, for what it's worth, I'm one of these that couldnt help noticing that the headbutt happened to the center of his forhead, not the side. But, immediately following the headbutt, Erik landed flush on the side of his eye.
And , to make matters that much worse, I dont go for the "gloves" theory..and Pac admitting in the post fight interview that the gloves had NOTHING to do with him losing doesnt help with my opinion either. He cant have it both ways..he said in palin English that the gloves had nothing to do with him losing (matter of fact, that's when he started with the 'eye' business) and I believed him. Im not going to change my mind now just cause it's convenient.
Erik outboxed him..Manny thought he could ko Erik..Erik was the more skilled of the two, etc..A combination of factors is the cause for Manny losing. Considering that I have given Manny props for the fight he put up louder than anyone else here, you'd think you could have looked past my one post where I questioned his abilities to continue with the fight while having a cut above him eye.
