From a marketing standpoint and fighting a guy he should beat easily, it's Berlanga who probably already knows he's got the fight.

They can do the whole Mexico vs Puerto Rico angle, although Berlanga is not exactly Miguel Cotto level. He's entertaining, he can punch, so he'd be game, that's about it.

If he does fight Berlanga next, who doesn’t deserve the fight, and that would suck, i’m pretty sure he will fight Benavidez next year. And guess what, it will benefit Benavidez more. He’ll have gained more experience and Canelo will have aged a little more. And once fighters get to their 30s, they seem to age in dog years.

You all need to calm down, it will happen probably next year. It’s frustrating when the best don’t fight the best. But Canelo should get at least a little bit of leeway as he’s an aging fighter and probably can’t handle multiple tough fights in a row.
It’s not just one opponent. Fans remember how he dragged out ggg for 2 years while fighting no hopers like khan, beefy smith and Chavez jr, and didn’t fight ggg until he was 35. Got help from judges twice and then avoided the trilogy until ggg was 40.
Fans remember how he left meaningful fights with charlo and Andrade on the table when they mattered at mw and went on a euro tour instead.
Now that he’s been backed into a corner for 2 years with Benavidez, he’s found every reason not to fight him while taking on much less deserving fighters.
As far as next year, it doesn’t benefit Benavidez because he’s already chosen to move up in weight which is likely what canelo wanted. The time to have made the fight at its peak has passed and that was exactly Canelo’s plan.

        In a ideal world.

Berlanga next month for PR day parade on ESPN.

        Benavidez in September on Dazn.

These people who shared their opinions for this article are what’s wrong with boxing. They’re acting like business men. As if they’re on these fighters payrolls. “Taking the road of less resistance?” Bro, if you’re a fan you’re calling for these fighters to take on the big challenges especially if these fighters are holding world titles hostage. Sick of hearing these so called journalists and insiders pushing for fighters to take fights that offer less risk. It’s your job as boxing “pundits” to be the voice of the fan and ask for the real fights. These guys sound fickle!

Flo Mo also cherry picked opponents and Clenelo is doing the same thing on a while other level . . . like I said

Christian Mbilli fights later this month. If he can win, that could be a solid fight.

The rest I don’t care about until they prove themselves at a higher level.
The rest of them or Morrell jr? Because you know the fraud will choose berlanga, and he won't go near Junior even if they pay him to do.

They're fanboys and groupies, once canelo disappears, you won't see them again, only for remembrances.

i always hate these sweepstakes articles it never feels like it is a true article as is with most fighters who are planning there next opponent with Saul it is always a cheap way of making a lot of money and not being challenged but that has all been said before...............and right now too.

Crawford should stay at welter or 154. Benavidez or Morrell would be good for Canelo. Berlanga should do a couple fights before Canelo. Morrell vs Berlanga?
