Comments Thread For: Doheny Embraces Mythical Status In Japan As He Hopes To Take The Call For Inoue

Australia-based Irishman TJ Doheny continued staking his claim for a fight with Naoya Inoue with victory in the Tokyo Dome on Monday night. The 37-year-old southpaw scored a fourth-round stoppage of Filipino Bryl Bayagos, who is now 7-1-1, in the show opener, which still took place in front of thousands of fans.

Doheny hasn't had a good win since 2018 against Ryosuke Iwasa. Since then all he's done is beat no-hopers and lose to Danny Roman, Ionut Baluta, Michael Conlan, and Sam Goodman.

After the Goodman fight, if Inoue stays at 122, there are several people ahead of Doheny in line for fights. Akhmadaliev, Casimero, Aleem, maybe Nakatani moving up. Doheny isn't even a consideration.

And majority of them absolutely nobody wants to see apart from Inoue fans.

He already beat the guy that beat Akhmadaliev.. who wants to see that fight lol? He’s fighting Goodman next who beat Aleem. Why would we need to see Inoue vs Aleem? Casimero coming off a draw too.

Nakatani is the only inspiring/competitive fight and he’s not at 122. Venado called him out.. ready to welcome him to 126. That’s a solid fight and would arguably be his best W.

Styles make fights and triangle theories are for casual idiots.

Norton and Frazier took Ali to hell and back 3 times each, Foreman obliterated Norton and Frazier, Ali dogwalked Foreman.

You yourself suggested guys like Figueroa and Leo as future Inoue opponents, both of whom lost to Fulton, whom Inoue already destroyed.

No interest in this 2-3 round slaughter.

September Goodman, December MJ, then next April/May Venado (assuming he keeps his belt until then) is my personal ideal order.

Who? Inoue has never heard of that guy, nor is he remotely in contention of anything.
