Absolutely. Reason he is under rated is he is not American or Mexican. Lampley himself said Las Vegas, therefore boxing, favors Americans and Mexicans because they fill the casinos.

ATG amateur. HOF as a pro, just didn't achieve greatness. But this is overall a respectable career.

Not that BoxRec is "The Truth" but since many talk about his unconfirmed 396 amateur wins and 1 loss BoxRec tracks 94 victories and 2 losses. I hope you get that right.

Judges can make or break a fighter’s resume. That W or L can be the difference between a HOF and ATG. To me, he was the first man to beat Devin Haney. That should’ve made him undisputed champion at 135 right there. That’s a big feat that was taken away from him and the history books.

There are certain other wins you have to remember. Hyped up fighters who he threw cold water at. Guillermo Rigondeaux, Gary Russell Jr, Nicholas Walters.

There are other top 10 fighters of his time. Jorge Linares, Luke Campbell, Jason Sosa, Anthony Crolla, Roman Martinez, Richard Commey, Jose Pedraza.

He got cheated big time vs Salido. I had Salido beating him. But he was absolutely cheated with low blows and the weight issue.

He lost fair and square to Teofimo Lopez. No excuse there.

Tank Davis ducked the hell out of him.

If he can beat another undefeated fighter in Shakur Stevenson…that’s ATG material.

What is an ATG anyway? Doesn’t that mean that you can see him holding his vs the greatest 126-135 fighters in history? I’m pretty sure he can. I bet if Lomachenko can fight every HOF 126-135 pounder in history, he’d come out of that with quite a few wins, and probably a few losses as well. But I think the point is that he has proven, with his resume and eye test, that he can hang with the greatest fighters of all time. He undeniably has shown that. I think he’s absolutely an ATG.

Underrated? lmao. He has been overrated since his first fight. They were putting him on p4p after 6 fights.

I wouldn't dream of trying to diminish his standing. Hes earned the applause of the industry.
But as an historian, I am aware of the real neaning of ATG.
And so I have to ask:

            Pro:
With an incredible 396-1 amateur record and 2 Olympic golds and 2 world championships, he is one of the best amateurs ever.

As a pro, he's gained world titles in 3 weight classes and unified some.
            He is a fantastic fighter.

            Con:
            He's 17-3-0 with just 11 stoppage wins.
Hardly the typical hall of fame numbers we expect.

If Vasiliy Lomachenko is truly a great for all the ages, what separates him and his body of work at 126 - 135 from his contemporaries, like Teofimo Lopez, Oscar Valdez, Gervonta Davis, Ryan Garcia, Naoya Inoue, Sandor Martin, Devin Haney, Subriel Matias, Isaac Cruz, Gary Russell Jr, Shakur Stevenson, Leo Santa Cruz, Javier Fortuna, Takashi Uchiyama, Francisco Vargas, Yuriorkis Gamboa, Lamont Roach, Jorge Linares, Jhonny Gonzalez, Nonito Donaire, Josh Warrington, Omar Figueroa, George Kambosos Jr, Miguel Berchelt, Etc.

Is Lomachenko discernibly BETTER than all of those? Most of those? Or only about half?

Lomachenko's work has been more than commendable, but this can be said of many in the 126 to 135 bracket during the past decade too.

Does he REALLY stand out as trancending his competitors to rise to an authentic all-time great?
Imagine if after JUST 75 amateur fights he turned pro what his professional career would have been like. I don’t think most on here can comprehend my proposal.

I say yes. On top of that, he has a very pleasing boxing style - high output and accuracy, good defense, brilliant footwork and sharp sense of distance. Too bad he got robbed against Haney

HOFer, without a doubt. ATG? Unfortunately, Loma got into the pros a little too late; and his performance, although excellent, wasn’t quite enough to attain that status. I’ve been disappointed for Loma, as I’ve liked and followed him since the amateurs — a special talent that didn’t achieve full professional potential. He might’ve been legendary. Vasyl has been fun to watch, even in defeat.
