  • Comments Thread For: Chase Canelo Alvarez or GOAT status? Debating Terence Crawford's Future

Terence Crawford could be three victories away from doing something that has never been done in the four-belt era: standing as an undisputed champion in three weight classes. Or the Nebraska fighter driven to defeat the most daunting opponent within his reach can pursue more glory and more riches than he has ever gathered by going after a showdown with undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez.

Crawford best win is one eye weight Drained crash dummy and he is a GOAT. Both of his undisputed accomplishments are weak. Undisputed means nothing now days. Even Haney got it easily by beating a bum and getting an email belt.

there just aren't the caliber of fighters around Crawford's weight class to ever meet GOAT standards. I like him, but his resume is all guys any ATG would beat.

“This guy [Crawford] is on a track to be the best fighter who’s ever lived – literally, pound-for-pound all time, if he stays undefeated,” Algieri said.
Is this really all it takes to become the the greatest of all time? Stay undefeated??

Gee no wonder why promoters and fighters are taking calculated risks to retain that 0 at all costs.

Commentators like Algieri, Mora and Bradley are the reason why whenever a athlete finally takes a risk, their reputation is in jeopardy and they tend to backtrack 2 steps backwards in competition if they don't look dominant.

No to knock on Crawford since he did the best he could had done with the options available, but fighting 1-3 great fighters during the whole span of his career shouldn't be put him above other highly accomplished fighters that have lost to elite opposition.

Canelo is being backed into a corner, and I love it. He knows the Crawford fight is a 50-50 one at best, and Canelo doesn’t want to train for a fight he can reasonably fear he’ll lose. Crawford is the same height as Canelo, has a longer reach and most importantly, he has a ring IQ that is equal if not superior to Canelo’s. If Turki makes Canelo a big -money Saudi offer to fight Crawford and Canelo takes less money to fight Berlanga, Turki’s not going to take that snub quietly. He’s going to make sure the whole world knows Canelo rejected the Crawford money and challenge - and pretty much expose and embarrass Canelo. Let’s see tough guy Canelo spout insults and threats toward Turki like he did toward the last guy (Oscar) who called him out and made him look bad.

bud may well like the russian guy for a belt at 154 & then canelo for whatever plaudits that brings if he should win it then hit the road smiling with lots of cash

maybe turki can entice him for more fights if anyone can its the turki guy who can, but with bud being a once a year guy it seems now might be tough

He should definitely stay at 154 and try to become lineal, if not undisputed.

Only 2 dudes have ever been lineal in 4 divisions. Floyd and Pac. Crawford has a chance to add his name to that list.

Yeah, why isn't Sven Ottke considered a GOAT? He retired undefeated, too lol.
