The fight happened because Haney is a warrior, he didn't want to ruin or rob us of a eventful prize fight. I was never a fan but I respected his willingness to fight dangerous opponents and the hard work he has put in to get to where he's at.

I never really rated him that highly to begin with but understood that he's young and had potential to improve. Then he impressed me in the Lomachenko fight even though I thought he lost, I thought it was still a good performance. I thought he looked good in the Prograis fight too. He seemed to be maturing as a fighter moving away from his previous MO of jabbing, running and hugging and becoming more rounded.

My worry is now that he's been beaten, hurt and dropped, will he be more reluctant to face challenges and will he revert to a more negative, safety first style?
