In pure numbers, just numbers and nothing else, Derevyanchenko hits about as hard as Canelo, just % wise.

Speaking from just watching both guys recently, i’m going to go out on a hunch and say yes Munguia will take Canelo’s power just like old GGG did in the trilogy, and just like Ryder and Charlo did. Canelo has gone 12 rounds in each of his last 4 fights. He knocked down Ryder and Charlo…great…But Munguia came up in weight and dropped Ryder 4 times and stopped him.

I think that this is due to a few things. The most important one is a hand injury which unfortunately, that hand will never be the same. Even if Canelo says he is, he really isn’t, and he never will be the same. Canelo is going to have to outbox Munguia and win on points. He doesn’t have the same power he showed pre-hand injury.

However this fight turns out. I've lost respect for Canelo. He wouldn't have picked Munguia if he thought he would lose. And then the judges will be oh so kind like they have been.

Canelo is basically betting his power and counters can slow down Munguiaand/or stop him. It probably will work because munguia isnt a natural 168 pounder, he moved up, that is one of the many reasons Canelo picked him over david.

David also has very quick hands for his size and deceptively good defense and a chin, I dont think canelo could hurt him or control the pace/style of fight. I think david would do whatever he wants.
Munguia is bigger than Canelo and has retained his power, his move up to 168 doesn’t make him weaker. He’s taller and bigger than Canelo and he showed his power at 168 versus a natural 168 fighter which Canelo also fought in John Ryder. He also has longer reach. He has all the physical advantages, including youth. Munguia pretty much has the same physical attributes as Andre Ward. I’m not saying Munguia = Ward, just comparing his size to former SMW’s.

This kid is 6’ tall, and look at his massive frame and the way he trucked through Ryder. He’s pretty much a normally sized super middleweight. I think he’s more natural at 168 than Canelo. Which is why I don’t understand the questioning from some people if he can take Canelo’s power. This isn’t Amir Khan coming up from 147. This is a guy who already fought at the weight and won by KO over a legit 168 guy.

If Munguia can get cookin early, set a high pace, nonstop power punches to the point of overwhelming Canelo, he has a chance. Granted, that chance can be blown if Canelo lands a counter in between all the offensive Munguia is going to bring. It should be a fun fight regardless. Great for Cinco De Mayo weekend, with some cervezas in your right hand, tacos in your left

If Munguia pulls off some miracle out of his ass, Oscar's going to be on CLOUD 9 between this and what Ryan did.

Munguia is 6’ tall and probably every bit of a natural 168 pounder as he probably would easily tip the scales and make LHW. I guarantee the natural weight for this kid puts him at LHW. On the other side Canelo is 5’8”. Canelo is bulky. However his natural fighting weight I’ve always thought was Middleweight. He too had to “move up.” You choose weights as a talking point to support your argument and then you bring David into this discussion. David should have been Cruiserweight years ago. His height and frame supports that weight naturally. This is why the kid was over 200 pounds in his earlier years.
Going off wiki or box rec. the heights are only somewhat accurate. Mostly not.

I have photos with Munguia sitting ring side Andre Ward vs Sullivan Barrera (Oakland CA) or Andre Ward vs Chad Dawson cannot remember the exact fight. He's 5'10 on a good day. I'm 5'9 and you have to look very close at the photos to see the small height difference.

my friend came over and took a couple more photos with us. At a different angle we almost look the same height.

I normally wear sneakers to these fights. So I didn't have anything to give me extra height.

I always thought that going super middle weight was a big step for him. I for sure thought he was going to stay at middle weight as the difference in size to me wasn't much. I am 185Lbs.

just a random detail I thought I would share.

maybe he has a 1" growth spurt since then. Idk its been some time ago.

5'10. 6'0 with some timberlands lol

(I have the photos if anyone wants to see)

When I watch Munguia fights, I get the impression he gets hit too much and too well. He's shown a pretty good chin, but Canelo is on another level, as the Saunders fight showed. The guy can hit really, really hard. Muguia couldn't get Rosado out of there, whereas Lemieux and GGG both stopped him and GGG claimed about six pints of blood.

Munguia's big advantage is his stamina, but that's an advantage only if he knows how to use it -- like Bivol did. If Munguia follows his usual pattern of standing close and trading heavy blows, Canelo is very likely to end the fight early.

And don't forget, if the fight goes to a decision, it'll be Munguia against the Bank of Canelo and the Las Vegas Establishment.

It will be a tough fight that Munguia wins, but the judges will rule it a draw.

Except the roles are reversed. In this fight, Canelo is the aging fighter and Munguia is the young, hungry lion.

Whether he believes it or not, he's got to say it. It's his job. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if Mungia beats Canelo. I don't think that he will, but he does have ways to win here.
