Anyone would like to clarify the confusion? Which weight would Crawford vs Ennis take place, 147 or 154?

  • Anyone would like to clarify the confusion? Which weight would Crawford vs Ennis take place, 147 or 154?

It's quite clear to me that Eddie Hearn, who now promotes Ennis, didn't mean it to happen anytime soon. I take it that collecting belts at 147 is Boots' top priority. Seems clear to me that he meant the Crawford vs Ennis to take place at 154.

Why are people still insisting it should happen at 147 now when Crawford is now fighting at 154? I'm not getting this incessant demand as if it's that easy.

Maybe the quickest way for the fight to happen is for Boots to do what Bud did and become undisputed at 147 then move up to 154 to fight Bud should he beat Madirmov. To make this happen, Boots has to be more active build himself as a star and make himself an attractive option for Bud.

What I'm not getting is why is Boots not asked to fight at 154? He's huge for a welterweight. Old Time, small, non-prime Thurman accepted a fight with Tszyu at 155. Why can't a big guy like Ennis? Forget about collecting belts at 147. That will take 2-3 years. Start conquering the higher divisions.

Matchroom need to milk Ennis a little bit first, they are looking at 2 yrs of building their investment for the big pay offs , they don't want Ennis to be the cow with his head sticking outside the cattle truck.

He is right now, not a lucrative option for Bud. He just offers alot of risk and Bud at the later stages of his career is trying to parlay himself possibly into a Canelo fight for the big bucks.

Booty needs to actually want the fight. He's turned it down already

But he's a freaking bum and time is on his side. If Bud is still active but showing his age within 3 years I can see email ennis clamoring for the fight

Anyways, it's all up to Turki. One of the biggest fights we just saw was not even a title fight. Who gaf about titles now? Tzsyu vs Ortiz is not a title fight. Again, the question still remains why would Crawford fight Ennis at 147 when he's moving up to 154?

Point is why complicate things? As long as the fight happens, why would you even care to want it at 147? I want to see the fight, but why not simplify it settle at 154?

I think Bud's 147 ship has sailed. So the only place the fight would happen at is 154.

And just based on the risk vs reward component I don't think this makes sense outside of Turki/Saudi involvement & big ****** money that'd make it impossible to not happen.

Boots is 5'10, the same size as Vergil Ortiz. Don't be mistaken he is killing himself just Ortiz for the 147 cut. Lubin is smaller than both of them and said he can cut to 147 but it is a killer and his body didn't feel right. No one is going back to 147 for Ennis. The names and competition are going down at 154 and he's hiding out in 147 for easy fights. As I said, he isn't staying undefeated with the roster of fighters at 154. Look at Tim who was #1 yesterday and not possibly facing back-back defeats. Ennis doesn't want any of that. If the Saudi say they will pay for Crawford fight, why isn't he taking a 154 fight now to test the division? Explain Spence x-fans because they are the ones on his bandwagon with Crawford ducking.

So what is the consensus here, do you still insist Bud should go after Boots at 147, or just really want to see the fight at a weight that's appropriate for both?
