He couldn't use his optimal strategy against Ryan Garcia. Ryan Garcia is too athletic for that.

Was it because he realized he couldn't keep him off him or was it because he wanted to hurt him back and prove a point because of his pride?

        Lol true.

Super weird to me this usually on point, take away the opps best weapon, strategical thinking & training for team had no answer for Ryan's #1 weapon. Of everything that happened the most surprising to me was Devin dealt so poorly with the left hook all night long.

I don't buy this at all. You can come up with a strategy for any traits esp vs a guy who've fought 6x & beaten 3x already.

I think Devin just made this fight too personal & was too ego driven is a big part of why he had so few answers & lost. A reasonable strategy vs a left hook guy with power isn't to seem totally unprepared for the left hook & to be chasing him down as much or more than hes coming at you.

I think he's a good athlete but he's not a natural fighter. Reminds me somewhat of a tiny version of Wlad with a very tiny amount of power. He needs the fight to follow a script. He knows his lines very well but can't adlib when his opponent goes off script. Remember his panic when tiny Loma started doing things they had not rehearsed for.

It could be. The ego may have played a part in it but when Haney got caught he was always set aside for the last one when he got caught trading. Dont think it was a pride thing as much as a styles make fights thing

Except I said all of these things before the fight. I made a thread about how Ryan Garcia has a good chance of winning.

Also been very public about how I thought Lomachenko really beat Haney and how Devin Haney is overrated and not at Shakur Stevensons level

Disagree cuz Devin didn't fight his style to begin with. Devin fought Ryan's fight for him. Not being on the phone the rest of the night after that first punch or at minimum the first KD in the 7th is low level sh^t to do when hes getting blasted by Ryan's #1 weapon by a mile against him. Many would say the only thing Devin shoulda been concerned with was the left hook & he had few answers for it.

One of his cornermen did a interview with FightHype & even he was saying they were trying to get back after some of the big moments Ryan had which put him at more risk. If he'd been more strategic & used his distance management better, like he did vs Regis, I don't see how he doesn't win the fight. Sh^t Ryan was losing this fight after 9rds with Devin fighting Ryan's fight. Ryan didn't turn it his way finally til the 10th rd KD. Imagine if Devin was fighting his own fight.
