Monster wasn't unknown. He was coming off the biggest name opp on his career, Nonito. He came, no one showed. He fought here earlier too. Again no one gaf. Unless Monster is a glutten for punishment or Turki starts writing him some checks he should stick to Japan.

Whatever big fight he could have in the US odds are it'll be bigger in Japan. US fans dgaf about lil guys. US fans dgaf about non-US/Mexican/PR boxers largely. Manny & GGG were outliers. Loma was never THAT popular.

Monster sells out 55,000 capacity Tokyo Dome.
He also tops all of the streaming programs in Japan.

        To put that into context.
Madison Square Garden's max capacity is 19,500.
T-Mobile Arena's (Crawford vs Spence) max capacity is 20,000.

Until there's a comparable opponent in the U.S., he has no reason to go anywhere.

The only issue here is there are a group of posters that make “fighting at home” an issue because they are mad boxers they hate are better than the guys they like.

Monster makes great money in Japan. He should only come to the States if he would earn a bigger payday.

Other than Tank, I am not sure there is another boxer that meets that criteria.

I rarely watch small guys when they fight. Last time I remember the Japanese star was on an undercard in America. So I don't know why anyone has to defend this nonsensical topic.

i agreed with porter... boxing is an american sport regardless of how others feel about it and in order to be "the one", you gotta come to the US...

i dont agree with bobby's statement here --

Inoue made two pandemic-era U.S. appearances at the Top Rank Bubble and ****** Hotels in Las Vegas, but Arum says in the current landscape “there’s no way he could approach what he makes in Japan. Why come here and take a step back when there’s such a tremendous market for you in Japan?”

it's not really consider a step back!! Inoue has been fighting in japan for 90% of the time, so having a few fights in the US to grow his popularity is never a step back but a step forward!!!

nobody is saying that Inoue has to come and fight in the US for the remaining of his career.... all we are asking is that he needs to be more active here in the US if he really wanna be a global star... but if he's happy to be known in japan only then that's fine too...

Inoue doesn’t have a JMM, Barrera, Morales or Oscar De La Hoya to fight. There’s nobody at those weight classes right now that could catapult him into being a big time Pacquiao-level star in America. So staying in Japan is fine for now.

He should gave done everything in his power to fight Chocolatito or Estrada when he had the chance, though.

Arguably the biggest opponent Inoue could fight in US at 122 was the undefeated American unifed champion and number one ranked in the division Steph Fulton. The biggest purse Fulton made in his career till then was a guaranteed 500k with another potential 500k for up to 1mil total depending on ppv results. For reference Fulton also made 500k as well for Dan Roman. He was making less than 100k for most of his other fights.

On a random note, Fulton earned over 5 mil when he fought Inoue in Japan.

The ultimate mystery of why Fulton agreed to travel to Japan despite being the defending champion with the belts and could've claimed to fight only in US...geez I wonder why? /s

                    He is a global star.

Guys don't need America anymore. Why should Inoue come to America for a MAJOR paycut when American fighters are all begging to fight in Saudi?

because of what i mentioned above... be honest, he's not a global star outside of Japan... no one really knows about this guy unless you follow boxing or is japanese or asian..

like i said, I am not asking him to fight in the US for the remaining of his career, but in order for him to "break out" into the spotlight, he needs to fight on US soil... once they see how badass this guy is, his popularity will grow even more outside of japan...

nobody in the US is going to stay up and watch his fights on a monday or early sunday like how it usually is in Japan, unless they are a diehard Inoue fan, but most boxing fans /casual in the US will not watch his fights because of the timing.. they wouldnt even know that he's fighting, which is why he needs to come to the US, fight in vegas a few times, that's all i am asking.

i dont know why yall keep trying to deny this part and claim that he's already known and is a global star. he's not! compared to guys like pacquiao who doesnt live in the US either but he fights in the US. if manny never cross over to the US, he wouldnt have been as popular as he was. #truth
