  • "Muh narrative"

Posts like the one quoted below are the most boring one can see here. We've got Beterbiev - Bivol actually happening. That alone is great news. We've also got a very strong undercard, which is a huge bonus.

And yet, apparently all some "fans" see is an opportunity to extend some weird narrative they have about which faction is "winning". None of those involved care about any of this, they're working together because of the money on the table. It's called expedience.

The Saudi project will run for 2-3 years, enjoy it while it lasts. I know a large proportion of boxing fans are the most miserable and resentful people one can find, but honestly. Try enjoying something for once, it's just sport at the end of the day.

What happened to all his fans talking trash about Eddie and DAZN a few years ago?

    They seem to have disappeared.

You should be asking yourself that question before sounding so ironic.

OP brings up a good point. Something that has always been a part of this section and the main reason I hardly ever post in it. The self-induced misery. Nothing is ever good enough for you guys. You spend most of your time complaining about fights not being made(which is fair, since it's such a corrupt sport) and when they do get made you're still mad. It's not about wanting to see good fights because you're never satisfied with the outcome unless your guy comes out on top. Then the circle repeats itself. People here must be very unhappy.

I was quite evidently using your post as an example, there are many others.

With that said, don't attempt to style it out. Your "honest question" was a rhetorical device designed to provoke your "muh favourite promoter" adversaries. It's boring, who cares who's promoting the fights as long as they're good?

It is pretty funny that Wilder is working with Hearn now after all those years of the Ldbc and their "Eddie hearn lie" stuff they used to peddle.

I don't care about promoters. I care about what's good for boxing.

That said, it's clear that some promotions are better at serving the sport than others so it's only normal for people to have allegience either way.

Boxing is tribalistic by its very nature and if you're bored by healthy discussion of certain aspects of it that's down to you, but don't try to shut down discussions just because you think yourself above it. Mind your own business if the topic at hand is no interest.

The world is ending, earthquakes, famine, pestilence, wars, brother against brother...

Seriously, though, big fights don't happen overnight. But when they do everything leading up to it is quickly forgotten.
Fans of muh promoter have the last laugh and able to list the fights that happened in their promoter's backyard in a span of 4-8 years. Not 1-2 yrs.
And I'm not talking about Bivol vs Beterbiev, etc. There were many fights from various promotions that were clamored, but didn't happen right away.
About Wilder now working with Hearn, it's a case of overvaluing the hype thinking the Mike Tyson days were back...

People think they're involved in all of the negotiations, it's really weird. They don't enjoy the fights, they enjoy the Aside/Bside negotiation BS.
