Gervonta Davis knows that there’s a target on his back. At this point, he’s grown accustomed to it. Fighting the 29-year-old lightweight champ is almost like hitting the lottery or participating in boxing’s version of the Super Bowl. Simply put, life-changing money and millions of eyeballs are placed upon you when Davis picks you as his next opponent.
It was an 80/20 split that killed it. A ridiculous offer.
He said there was no time to negotiate and he bailed. He should had countered instead of just not negotiating. I think highly of him as a fighter but I have heard speak a few times and he don't sound too smart. If he thought he could beat Shakur he should had taken the fight and his profile would had been much higher. At the end it worked out for him that he got the Tank fight. Good fight regardless, but this is the new era of guys not having no marquee wins, no titles but won't risk investing into themselves.
