RCC Boxing Promotions, on behalf of Kurbanov, issued a statement that he and Madrimov fought for the title in Riyadh at their own expense and the assumptions that he received huge money due to the fact that the fight took place in Saudi Arabia do not correspond reality.
“Yes, I fought without a fee,” Kurbanov said. “We had negotiations for a very long time, in the end, they called me and said: “There is a fight, there is a world title, there is no money.” Roughly speaking, both Israil and I perform at our own expense. Now they write that I earned 20 million, 30 million, 35 million... Guys, calm down. I fought for my dream, for my goal. I went into the ring to win, but, unfortunately, I didn’t win.”

Boxing has no real system in place that behaves as oversight. A fighter's team should be held accountable in this situation. I'm shocked that both teams went along with it.

Wasn't Kovalev's purse dependent on the PPV buys vs. Ward, and he supposedly didn't receive a guarantee? That happened on HBO in the USA. A fighter can be abused in any part of the world, no matter the society or government that surrounds him.

RJJ did that too for the Bhop rematch iirc. Thats business. Thats capitalism. Thats entrepreneurial mindset sh^t. Thats not fleecing someone. No one has to agree to no money lol. They gambled on the PPV upside & lost. Thats there own doing not someone fooking them over.

For example you can take 5M & get 10% of the PPV money or take 2M & get 25% of the PPV. This is just a more extreme example of that & likely bad business/advice by their team more than anything else.
