His history definitely compelled him. Being publicly intoxicated while he has a rumored bout...implies a lack of discipline. He's already been penalized for ******* use and not making weight, so people are going to wonder if he's matured at all. Additionally, this is the result of using Canelo's name to artificially boost his name value. Benavidez has more attention/hype surrounding him now than ever before, so he's under a microscope. His team wants him to be a cash-cow so badly, well this is the level of attention that comes with it.Comment

No need to apoligize, he was a fan that day, his family was there. He deserves to drink a beer just like any other person. Peopl on this forum criticizing him look ridiculous as if they were perfect. He was not training and yes, selling beer is what gives money to the venues were the fights are happenning.Comment

World famous and recognized figure in society.
Yeah, it does suck to have vices and to put poisons into your body and not being able to control how much you consume.Comment

A guy who’s last fight bombed so bad Haymon had him relegated to an undercard is Canelo’s biggest fight? Hilarious.
It’s a big fight for boxing fans but casuals DGAF about David Benavidez. Canelo’s making his $40-50 million no matter who he fights. He doesn’t need anyone at this point in his career.
The WBC are corrupt and know they should be calling for the mandatory like they promised. But guess what, they haven't. Canelo should be stripped. The same with the WBA that has Morrell as the number 1 for 3 years. But go on, continue to mention money that Canelo makes. Money you won't see a dime of. How you can do that as an adult is absolute shameful. But hilarious at the same time watching you and Canelo being forced to clown yourselves. No pride what-so-ever.Comment

I think if he had drunk just a beer or two, there wouldn't have been a peep out of anyone. Remember, it was Benavidez himself who felt compelled to apologise after seeing the footage back. I don't think anyone is demanding he has to apologise. There's failure on the part of DAZN to do some diligence ahead of the interview, but ultimately if anyone appears on TV when they are so soused that they can't work the muscles of their face enough to get intelligible words out, it's a bad look, let alone when we are talking about a professional athlete.Comment
