  • Why can't promoter Floyd make an offer to Crawford for the Ennis fight?

He's clearly irritated at Bud for going after Canelo who Floyd feels Bud doesn't deserve as splashed and screamed in the title of this thread:

Floyd Mayweather: Crawford, You're Not Getting Spence Rematch Or Canelo...So, FIGHT Boots Ennis, Or Fight Benavidez And Actually EARN A Canelo Fight Since Benavidez Wants Canelo
    https://www.boxingscene.com/forums/b...z-wants-canelo

Floyd is clearly exasperated and wants Bud to fight Boots.

Thing is he's a PBC promoter and revealed in his recent interviews that when people talk about Haymon, they're essentially talking about him.
So why can't the boxing community ask Floyd to make an initial offer to Crawford and start the ball rolling in the Bud/Boots negotiations?

Whether you like it or not this will always be the elephant in the room as long as Boots and Bud still have no fight scheduled yet.

    Boots isn't a PBC/MP fighter.

Bud is not a PBC fighter either. Boots and Bud are essentially free to fight anywhere they want to.

Biggest point here is who does Floyd actually expect to make the fight happen? Sounds ridiculous to see him expect Hearn, Arum, Hoya to make the fight happen. Why not him? In your argument that Boots isn't with PBC/MP, he's not with TR, GBP, Matchroom either. So I don't see the point.

The thought that Floyd even mentions Crawford should be fighting Benavidez is clearly a sign of exasperation. Can't even see Bud/Canelo happening any time soon let alone Crawford vs Benavidez.

No one probably, he was just talking on Fight Hype.

One day these cats will realize Floyd isn't a businessman, or negotiator, or any of that. The people around him do that. He is a fighter who don't want to fight anymore, but wants to dictate what the current crop do with their careers.

Dude can't even read, write or even proofread a contract.

Right now he is no more than a attention seeking guy who wants people to care what he think.

I've always found his interviews pretty uncomfortable to watch. He's not a confident speaker at all, which is why he developed a character and rarely engages with the point made. Just repeats rehearsed slogans.

He was crapping himself at the Pacquiao press conference. Not because of Pacquiao but because of the magnitude of the event and he knew he wasn't going to be able to hide behind rehearsed trash talk like he normally did.

He's been in the business as a promoter for as long as I can remember. I just don't know if he's capable of making these types of fights. He didn't get any credit for the Tank vs Garcia fight. The credit was about his zero participation.

So I don't know man. It's probably too much to ask. I'd rather see BLK Prime resurrect their offer. And that's what fans should be encouraging if they truly want to see the fight.

                  "exasperation"

No. It's just basic career advice coming from someone who knows the business. Instead of demanding Floyd "do something" maybe you should tell Crawford to shut the **** up about fighting at 168 if he's not serious about it. Benavidez and Crawford are the two guys who want Canelo. Crawford is willing to fight at 168. So why not fight Benavidez?

Focus of this thread is about hope of making the Crawford vs Ennis fight happen. Get the fight over with. Anything else is just extreme, talibanized reaction defending one side over another, instead of really helping to make the Bud/Boots happen.
