do you really expect to be able to throw combos and body punches in a street fight? people would be kicking you or trying break you knees you cant just stand there and throw combos
If you join a boxing gym, your trainer will show you how to throw a punch appropriately. Always aim for the eyes or below(punching on the head can cause damage to your hands). Always have your fists tightly closed.

With these simple tips, you will never hurt your hand in any kind of fight.

But if there's more than 1 guy or weapons involved...theeeen I'd suggest not getting into trouble.

      If this happens, then just...

      Run.

Depend's on one's "definition" of a street fight is, anymore. I have put people in into Kaiser ICU, because of a punch. Likewise, I got put into a Med 7 trauma because somebody wanted to hurt me worse. **** happens. But I would say, yes, having some hands, is better then not. Just use your head. And don't lose it.

Wrestler, take down? Depends how quick you can throw a uppercut, what level you can throw it. Being able to throw a "upper hook" helps, from a strong base. There are plenty of strong forms of martial art's, and masters, that could kick my ass.

In a street fight Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, any kind of striking art is much better if you're dealing with multiple opponents. You can't hope to use Brazilian Jujitsu if you're fighting multiple people, which in my experience is most often what happens. If you take 1 guy down to the ground and start to Submission or ground and pound you'll get your ass kicked by his buddies who are still standing.

Boxing and Kickboxing in the street self-defense perspective, is much better in that you can take out or make each guy back off. Usually if you K.O. one guy right away the others back off.

However in a 1v1 fight, Jujitsu is a lot better. You can take your time breaking your opponent down and take him to the ground without any kind of fear that someone else will kick you while you're on the ground wrestling.

Overall, any striking art is better than any grappling art on the streets. It never hurts to know a little bit of both though.

Depends on the situation. 1 vs. 1...which is fairly rare, Boxing, Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Muay Thai...eh, they all work.

you vs. multiple people...yeah, taking a guy down isn't the best. Maybe if you can hip toss a guy that would work, but taking someone down isn't smart. You take one guy down and get soccer kicked by his friends. Boxing and other striking arts would be more suitable, but still...it'd be smartest to not start trouble or get into a fight.

                    what do yall think
Any grappling technique is more useful.

Even when you see two boxers, what happens almost immediately?

Think Lennox and Hasim on Roy Fireston's show.

                      I was a pretty high-level wrestler.

I have never hurt myself, or been hurt, when i grab somebody. I did, however, trash my hand on someone's head. and if the fight handn't been broken up, I would have been a sitting duck. I couldn't close my right hand.

Besides, so few guys know what they are doing on the ground. That is where you can quickly choke someone out if you have any skills at all.

Thankfully, i have an appearance that guys don't try me.
