If Dawson beats Johnson Decisively or by ko is he #1 LHW?

In my view due to Hopkins lack of activity and possible retirement after his fight with RJJ, if Dawson beats Johnson decisively or by stoppage he should be #1 LHW without any doubt. Do any of you realize even IF Hopkins beats RJJ sometime early next year he will not have won a fight against a ranked LHW in about 3.5 years? If he loses it doesn't put way past prime RJJ as #1 in my view, as he will have beaten only 1 top LHW in I am guessing 6 years. Dawson has put in his work beating current #1 CW Adamek, Harding, Tarver 2X, and the only thing holding him back from being #1 is the controversial win over Johnson. If he beats Johnson this time with out any controversy and especially by ko and there is no plan for a fight for the Hopkins/RJJ winner, then he should be ranked #1. He already is #1 in my view because Hopkins lost his lineal title won from Tarver to Joe C, and has not beaten any LHW of note since. So if there was plan for a Dawson/ winner RJJ/Hopkins fight, it should be for a vacant # 1 slot. If not it should go to Dawson after his probable win over Johnson and he can defend it against Cloud, Erdie, Mack, or whoever emerges as a contender.....any thoughts, opinions?

No, he waited so long to give Johnson a rematch so he gained more experience in sparring and fighting while Johnson got older. And not everyone is a bhop and can still be great at old age.

He had to rematch Tarver and the fight got pushed back due to I think a Tarver injury so its not really his fault.

No, because Johnson is 40 and is now well past his best. His advancing age showed in his last fight.

Dawson needs to fight a couple of PRIME opponents like Pascal and Cloud before being considered #1.

Yes, except for Hopkins, they are all mortals.

I'd say so. Couldn't argue him overtakin Bhop if he beats Glen clearly, which I think he will this time.

To appear younger, Hopkins clinched alot against Calzaghe. But Johnson is not much of a clincher he is actually more like Calzaghe and relies on highwork-rate. And for a 40 yr old, Johnson has a horrible style for a guy who wants to constantly throw. And I doubt Johnson can learn to excessively hold because that isn't really his style.

True, I saw the Dan Judah fight but that is nothing Dawson can do anything about. I, at this point and am not comfortable rating B-hop based on a loss and win over a MW or any LHW over Dawson.
