At least Cotto knows how to throw a jab. A jab used to prevent aggressive fighters. Lopez just got carried away.

They are both very good fighters, with Cotto having the better technical skills.

Tonight just wasn't Juanma's best night, but he's talented and young, and will give us some impressive wins in the years to come.

I think they are pretty close as far as skills, but Cotto is definitely more seasoned. I don't think Cotto makes the same mistake Juanma did, plus Cotto would have adapted to Mtagwa unorthodox style and would have concentrated on the body. Give props to Juanma because we knew he had skills, now we know he has heart as well.

Cotto. Tho I ain't seen tonite's Lopez fight, he has shown that he's basically a pure power puncher. Cotto don't rely exclusively on power to win his fights.

This is easy is Cotto. He is more seasoned. He is more proven. But, Cotto had life and death fights early on in his career also. Cotto agaisnt Corley. Cotto against Torres. I think people forget that Paulie gave Cotto fits. Probably swept the last 4 rounds. So is unfair fo Juanma to ask this question right now. Lets wait 2-3yrs and then we will have a more clear picture on who's better.

Lopez looked bad tonight, especially his defense. I was watching on a crappy stream, I think the right man won but maybe I should watch it in better quality to make sure. But I think Roger blew the fight in the final round when he seriously had Lopez hurt.

Those earlier fights were very entertaining for me like this one. Cotto-Torres was great, Cotto-Corley was kind of scandalous, the Paulie fight I realized how tough Paulie is.

Agree, Cotto is an elite fighter. Juanma is still green at this stage of his career, but tonight he got the first real test as a fighter, what a fight.

Juanma has shown he has the ability to be the best in 122 and 126. He throws a lot of punches, Has better than average power, He can take a punch and has good reach and stamina. Sure thats not worth anything if he doesn't improve or if he doesn't use his boxing ability. But there shouldn't be doubt thats theres no one that has the potential to be the best. Its all up to him. Others fighter can say that.

I disagree. I think this is getting overlooked. In the final round Mtwaga did not blow it. He tried his damnest to get rid of Lopez. But, Lopez showed he had tremondous heart. Showed he was tough. showed he could survive when he is tired and hurt. A lesser figher wouldn't survived that final round.
