Vargas was the one clinching whenever Ball got close. With the reach difference being as it was, he had to force his way in. But Vargas just ran and clinched. Ball did a job on him though and won clearly. But we know how Mexicans lose and always get the draw or the win. When was the last time a Mexican lost and didn't get the decision? It's non stop. All 3 of their fighters at Featherweight who have a title, shouldn't.

Respect to both guys as it was a hard fight where each had to dig deep. Can also see why both feel that they would've won with a different ref as he made some bad calls. Didn't let Ball work enough inside, but also gave him credit for a KD where a lot of refs wouldn't have.

There were multiple times when Ball got in close and Vargas dropped to the floor. The ref needs to blame Ball and give a warning/deduction or blame Vargas and count it as taking a knee. Can't just keep acting like it's a random accident. Ref looked out of his depth.

I didn't score it so no view on who won but I feel like Ball has more obvious adjustments he can make for the rematch. He seems to be very tough to the body, kept a high guard and took some big body shots. But even if you can take them fine, they are scoring punches and part of why he lost some of the rounds. If he can time that right to the body with a counter left hook it's a big difference. Easier said than done but he's young/inexperienced enough to still be improving.
