Is it because mbilli hadn't exercise his mando? Or is it a more corrupt situation? I doubt hearns would let him face the Cuban, he didn't let ryder fight him three years ago. And he was a journeyman.

Morell jr had an interview no long ago and was asked what did he think about a berlanga fight. He said he would knock out the guy in less than five rounds. Now, that's what he said, if they fight he might do it or not, but the odds are going yo be in his favor.Comment

Canelo told them he wanted to fight Berlanga... so they moved Berlanga up to satisfy a mandatory challenge and give the opponent some credibility.
But the backlash was so extreme that the WBA backed off a day or two later and said if he fights Berlanga it doesn't count as a mandatory.
