When you got money to blow like the Saudi royals do, of course you can't that down. Them guys rich as a b$%#@. That's why it's hard to knock promoters sometimes, especially when fighters be asking for the type of money they're not really worth. From the outside, we really don't know what's happening when their sitting down behind closed doors. All we know is hearsay from side A and side B. Not a fan of big fights going to Saudi Arabia, but if they can make it happen and put on cards like the "Day of Reckoning" card without all the drama we see often, f%#$ it. Make it happen.
I would love to hear a truly honest promoter's stories about the challenges to making fights. I want to know the REAL deal. It would be fascinating and it sure would clear up a lot.

As the old saying goes - "always look at the money trail"
While Hearn is being real when he says promoters are always looking to make the most money which typically comes from the biggest fights this isn't the whole story.
Promoters want to protect their business's turf so to speak - so they may not help another promoter's fighter win against the loss for their own fighter - much better to make an in-house fight and then it doesn't matter who wins.
Frank Warren does this very well - he had Dubois matched against Gorman and then later Dubois against Joyce - he probably figured if Dubois lost he was young enough to come back and so it has proven to be.
PBCs whole business model seems to be based on keeping things in-house as much as possible and earning the most possible for their fighters while the fighters take the least damage possible. This is great for the fighters - Charlos, Danny Garcia, but not so much for the fans as we get fights nobody was asking for - Ugas-Barrios anyone?
The Saudi involvement is refreshing as they don't care about the money - they are losing money on the fights but building a brand long term.
So what he’s saying is he doesn’t have access to the kind of money that he did when dazn came on the scene a few years back. His budget has been reduced and now he’s found a pot of
gold with his new master “his excellency”

DAZN seems to be making more fights than ever and its mostly matchroom cards - so fights are getting made. Of course Eddie has to stay on his toes what with all the PBC cards being made
Yawn. Same old nonsense about some fights only being able to be made because of the Saudi money.
It's true - but only because boxing was already corrupt. It wasn't Saudi's who originally turned it into a money-grabbing exercise. Blaming Saudi for anything is just being hypocritical when you already have 5 world champions per weight division....
