I’ve watched Canelo since he turned pro. That’s what almost 20 years. So, I have a different perspective than the young girls on here. I’ve seen him take on EVERYONE. Some fights were close but no one has come close to whipping his a-ss other than Mayweather, GGG & Bivol.
Id LOVE to see him fight Benividas. In my mind he is 3-4 years PAST his PRIME. Hes proven all he had to while he was in his PRIME. He has earned the right to go out as he sees fit.
Benividas needs to make his own way just like Canelo did when he was young and in his prime. He has some great fights in front of him I’d love to see. Morell, Bivol & Beterbiev are all great fights. He really should fight Morell first.

I agree with Dan... first of all, that has to be some historical time before Canelo can be compared in the same light as the other Fighters mentioned. That's just the way it works.. now it was still active there's still stuff going on that may determine his standing.

I think when we compare Sanchez it's a tricky comparison. He was great but his career was cut so short. On the other hand I do think we can compare Chavez. Chavez was seriously outclassed by Whitaker nobody mentioned that. Of course Canelo was beaten by Mayweather. Other than that, we can't really look at canelo's career just yet until he retires but I wouldn't put Chavez ahead of Canelo automatically.

Does Canelo’s volume surpass that quality? Imo no but if you think so ok.

In my experience discussing this with Mexican boxing fans, I don’t hear from them that Canelo is ahead of either or the other guys I mentioned.

Obviously my sample is small. Lol
Nelson win massively overhyped if I'm being honest, as green as grass at the time, doesn't help Nelson took that fight on a weeks notice either. He went onto have a great career yes but that fact shouldn't overrate the win like it does. I don't see how that's a better win than Golvokin 2 for example.

I genuinely cannot see how you could even compare the career of Sancez to Canelo's. It's not even close.

          No it's not.

Even if it was, (which it's not) Canelo's quantity is vast in comparison.

Yeah I think people are quick to look at the Benividas situation and judge Canelo exclusively based on the perception that he is avoiding the fight. Even fighting guys like Austin Trout who were very skilled Fighters, was a tough road for Canelo. I don't think he ducked, or Cherry Picked as a habit.

I don't need to check their resumes, I actually lived it.

Nelson in his prime? How could you possibly justify that?

You're talking about domestic British level fighters and bad decisions when Sanchez arguably lost to Pat Cowdell which is the equivalent of Canelo arguably losing to Rocky Fielding or someone of that nature.

If Canelo had beaten Mayweather then an argument could have been made on who was greater but he didn't so no he isn't greater than Chavez.

Both at their pinnacle and highest, shining moment, Chavez beat Taylor whereas Canelo lost to Floyd (Canelo was drained from the catchweight but again this was due to mismanagement).

Are you comparing Meldrick Taylor to Floyd Mayweather?

Chavez didn't beat anyone on Mayweather's level so that's not a fair comparison.

He fought Whitaker who was on Mayweather's level and was beaten relatively easily.

Why do you care about Benavidez needing to make his own way? Dont you want to see the best fight the best. Canelo is the unidputed Super Middleweight champ and Benavidez is the most deserving of a title shot
