It doesn't effect my respect for the man ; but I generally don't like it when people sugarcoat it and portray Ali to be saintly in fashion.

Not saying you are ; but a lot of the uninformed "fans" around here think of him in that manner.
He wasn't perfect, no man is, but he was a very good man, who fell under the influence of some very powerful dangerous people while he was young.

Where does Jersey Joe Walcott rank among the top H.Ws of all time?

        Absolutely.

As much as I dislike him for certain vile comments and actions in his past, I equally love him for the good deeds he's done outside of the sport.

I was just musing on Ali's complexities, I consider him to be one of the more complex boxers in the sport's history.

Not on anybody's top 10 list.

And it's a damn shame, too.

Skill for skill Walcott could give any Heavyweight from any era their share of difficulties.

But that also just goes to show you how littered with talent the HW division is, historically.

Exactly kind the same thing with Floyd. It's because they are the only one's to get the mainstream media.

Yeah, he was fucking up Marciano before he got caught and he got robbed against Joe Louis. Rarely do I watch old old old stuff, I like to watch him though.

I guess im in the minority saying ali is goat. Sugar ray was great but ali was in the perfect time period for the best division and dominated.
