I disagree on Ali being the greatest Heavyweight of all time.

I certainly believe he was the most skillful Heavyweight of all time, and certainly one of the greatest to ever do it.

But Joe Louis' title reign and dominance throughout his career puts him at #1, IMO.

And that's all this is, really ; opinion.

Louis' resume was no joke, either.

Ali's skillset was clearly superior to Joe's ; I don't think there's any arguing that.

But there's also something to be said about Louis' sheer dominance throughout his title reign, and the historic nature of it, as well.

But we all have our own opinions.

Joe Louis's title defences and reign was spectacular, but Ali could have beaten it had he not been stripped and robbed of his 3 best years. Also in a H2H Louis would get dominated more or less.

Exactly, it's kinda like if you ask a regular person who the greatest wrestler of all time is, they'll say Hulk Hogan, but if you ask a fan 99% will say Ric Flair.

To me, Ray Robinson was the greatest boxer, pound for pound, something that even Ali himself would not deny.

I do think that Ali, in George Foreman's words, was the greatest man to ever box. Ali is a legend who is not only a boxer but a great person who had a trendemous influence outside of the sport of boxing.

I disagree on that "great person" statement.

For every good thing Ali has done, he's done it to make up for a bad thing he's done.

It doesn't effect my respect for the man ; but I generally don't like it when people sugarcoat it and portray Ali to be saintly in fashion.

Not saying you are ; but a lot of the uninformed "fans" around here think of him in that manner.

I didn't mean that as in he was a saint or a perfect human being or anything. There are many great men who aren't.
