The 168 champion dont want to fight 168s
Boss Nelo's most "reasonable" basis for not fighting David Benavidez next...

My working theory: he's delaying the Benavidez bout because he's waiting for Bivol/Beterbiev. Canelo vs. Bivol/Beterbiev is Undisputed vs. Undisputed, easily marketable and also enhances his legacy. Benavidez is marketable too, but it's just a title defense. If Bivol beats Beterbiev, he'll be able to negotiate a much better deal in a Canelo rematch.Comment

Agreed, there's Munguia/Benavidez and maybe Berlanga in NYC. However, those fights don't have the same meaning that Beterbiev/Bivol has...and those fights will still be there should he lose to Beterbiev/Bivol. Canelo is searching for a win-win situation. This is why Benavidez should go up and try to challenge Bivol/Beterbiev b4 Canelo does.Last edited by kiaba360; 02-26-2024, 04:22 PM.Comment

I’m sure for a fight with Benavidez, he’s looking for Gayweather/Pac money, problem is Benavidez at 27 isn’t anywhere near as recognizable to the casuals as any one of them. All his fault for being an undisciplined moron and losing his titles to coke and McDonalds.Comment
