Whether his sixth-round stoppage of Padraig McCrory is sufficient to put him ahead of David Benavidez, Jaime Munguia or Jermall Charlo in the Canelo Alvarez sweepstakes is a different matter, but to hear both Berlanga and his promoter Eddie Hearn talk afterward, it would not be a surprise if the Puerto Rican were to get the call.

It’s really embarrassing watching the DAZN crew acting like company hype men rather than providing objective commentary. Edgar Berlanga is a bum, who only got this opportunity to become Canelo’s mandatory because of his nationality and who his promoter is. Nobody in their right mind believes Berlanga is deserving or that he has even the slightest chance of beating Canelo.
