the answer is simple then - we need judges to be better trained to handle hot potatoes

The answer is country simple but won't get changed because, generally, people, especially in the USA, just say 'this is the way we always dunnit'. The winner of a round gets 10 points. The loser gets somewhere from 1-9 based on his showing. Right now, if I get knocked around & basically beaten half to death the least I can get is 7. Why not say the guy that is horribly beaten gets '1' up to the guy that just lost a really competitive round gets '9'? Suddenly, you've got a lot more points to explain how, although they were pretty even, you kinda respected Boxer B's jab over Boxer A's movement & flashy right hands.

Referees as well. The incompetence in boxing is startling, it is sometimes hard to understand whether are they corrupt or are they incompetent - both judges and referees.

The answer is AI. It could more accurately count the punches landed and also the velocity and angle to determine force of the punch ( I think powerful punches should count for more and with AI it could be determined more or less accurately.
At least one of the judges could be replaced with AI.
Personally I feel like if you went to AI, you could introduce a smaller than the ring square on the mat (or imaginary like they do the strikezone in baseball, or first down in football) and the fighter that stays in it the longest gets ring generalship point. (king of the hill) It would help eliminate runners. You could also determine who had their back to the ropes longest, pushed into the corner etc.
It could all be used by the AI to score the round.

Judges should NOT be sitting at the apron. The view is terrible, and is often obstructed by the referee. Judges should be somewhere else, watching on monitors, taking advantage of multiple camera angles, with no crowd noise to unduly influence them.

But I'm sure Suliaman couldnt care less about judging, he just sees a way to have more judges paying fees to go to the WBC convention, etc.......

Great, relevant article to really get fans thinking. Refreshing to see quality journalism rather than Hans Moleman picking out a three-word quote and writing 1000 words of whimsical purple prose about it.

How’s about sanctioning the corrupt judges
I think that would be a start
And I don’t mean a slap on the wrist either
Hurt them where it counts ; $$$$$
And take away their privileges as to judging big fights

I think a tiny number of judges are corrupt. They should be rooted out but they aren't the main problem. Any judge, comes out into the arena, sees the signs, hears the crowd, meets the promoters. Every judge knows who is the A side & the B side. It is extraordinarily difficult for a judge not to be swayed, when a round is close, by thinking who is the A side & who is the B side

They have the worst viewing spots.
They don't need to be ringside
Put them in separate rooms, with a cam and mic'd for sound, with a big assed monitor.
In between rds, they can review a rd to see if missed anything.
Then we can have a proper scoring system instead of judges scoring punches to the arms and behind the head.
