If Ustiff the Russian lasts to a decision it should still be overwhelmingly in Britains favor

Not only that, but what if one lands more hard and clean punches than his opponent, but hurts him less? Narrowing things down to one criterion as this "non-imbecile" suggested is one of the worst ways of scoring a boxing fight.

We as fan's cannot accurately measure the force of punches landed. Fighter A could certainly hurt Fighter B more with a punch delivered with less force than Fighter B just landed on him, but that's all part of the subjective assessment of how hard and clean the punches were. I don't understand why you believe that the other three criteria are worth scoring nor do I understand how you disregard the fact that these criteria definitely compete with each other.

We've had some fairly lengthy threads about the scoring system in boxing, and how it could be improved. If you believe that the scoring system, both the established judging criteria and he 10-pt must system make sense, then fine, but maybe consider what other fans have observed. I insist that the current judging criteria only create confusion and amplify bias.

Here is a recent thread discussing the matter if you're interested. https://www.boxingscene.com/forums/b...scoring-system

As with any interesting topic on BS there is never a consensus opinion.

          yes interesting

imagine some guy just turtled up, bobed and weaved the whole fight barely throwing anything and got a shutout v his opponent

Yes, that would be a sport with zero fans, except for a few Cubans maybe. This is why it was for the good of the sport that Jamaine Ortiz lost.

No controversy? Then Velcro a drug narc to Fury cause there is no way he isn’t juicing for this fight, like zero percent chance he isn’t juicing.

That last part is your opinion. Because by your logic Willie pep would be considered a bum. Hit and don’t get hit by any means, you can also blame teo for having trash footwork and not being able to adapt to force the fight. We’ve seen outright runners, guys who just wanted to survive the 12 and those are fine to call out but ain’t no way you can’t put any fault on teo for following the guy around the ring and not throwing to the body while cutting off the ring to force Ortiz to fight.

Well, yes, it is my opinion, but I am TOAA after all.

I think I'm fairly worn out by the Lopez-Ortiz debate. All that's been said on both sides has been heard, so there doesn't seem to be much opportunity to change anyone's mind about it at this stage. Jamaine Ortiz was as close as you can get to an "outright runner" against Teofimo, so I am glad he picked up an L for his effort. I personally gave him just one clean round and two tie rounds (119-111 for Lopez) because I fall squarely in the lot of fight fans who shows up to see an actual fight. There is artistry in the way Jamaine Ortiz moves, but its a form of boxing that runs counter to the spirit of combat sports, which, to me, is what boxing is.

You say yoursefl that Teofimo Lopez should be faulted for not being able to force Jamaine Ortiz to fight. Why, good man, does a fighter have to force his opponent to fight?

It’s also part of the fight game.waiting 3 more months for the fight is nothing for us as fans. But to the fighters 3 months could mean A LOT. Usyk seems ready for the mental warfare and that should make for a compelling fight. Only the usyks managers and legions of fury haters are crying.
It's genius to get a cut to delay a fight? Maybe in your mind but in the minds of most people it's just more nonsense stall tactics by Fury and reveals his lack of confidence. Only Fury fanatics would think delaying a fight that has been a long time in the making is a "genius" move. Fury is getting more annoying by the day and has become an embarrassment to the sport. He's not funny anymore, just arrogant and obnoxious. Ali was witty, poetic and humorous, Fury is just a pig now.

Usyk is Russian? That's news to me. It's amazing how much nonsense a person can type in one sentence.
