I thought Gutierrez might have a chance since he has some pop and Abdullaev is fairly feather fisted. Roger looked faded and content to keep it at the intensity of a glorified sparring match.

The stars aligned for Roger Gutierrez when he got the chance to face a very soft Rene Alvarado for the WBA super featherweight title. He has to be one of the weaker champions of the last several years, so it hasn't really been a surprise to see him consistently fall short every time he steps up in competition since losing the belt. Nobody can ever take away his world champion achievement, but he will never approach that level again.
