Despite what some have implied, I still very much want this fight to happen and believe it's the most important fight in the sport.
I could start a thread about 1890s ***** X ducked 1890s ***** Y right now and cause a ten page argument.
Long Form:
When you're the guy who does the research you get to make choices. Take my list of ancient champions for example. When I did it, I did it because it was not done yet. So, to make a simple and clean list I had no other list or expert to rely on for when something like to notion of champion comes into question, ducking, cheating, succession, etc.
My list was made in a way so that the names were links to thread about those names. Details about the champions are in their threads and so any questionable champions' precarious position would only be exposed in the thread.
This is the same, exact, model at cyber boxing zone and the international boxing research organization. The same is true for those authors and those periods and they did their work prior because as you get close to now it becomes easier.
So, when you're looking at a list you're looking at the author's shorthand or quickest answer to the question who was champion on this date. If it's ancient it's derived from mine or is mine. If it's bare knuckle same deal except now you mean Tracy Callis and his friends instead of me and mine. If you look at a modern list it's the same issue.
You as a reader of a list can only check the resource I gave you and repeat the information I gave you, but, if you choose to read into the champion you made decide you disagree with me and reckon a different name was champion.
I'll give an example
You'll find most list Kleomedes as champion and don't often see Ikkos. However, the Greeks actually acknowledged Ikkos and I overturned their decision by placing Kleomedes as champion. You may feel I don't have that authority as an author and disagree with that choice.
In my list of bare knuckle champions if you compare to Tracy's you'll see I have more champions and my times are different. He chose a time when Burke was recognized as champion that I disagree with and pushed forward.
These sort of issues are exactly what we talk about in history section every single day. Tyson's delaying fights through his career will always be apart of his career and story. There is no other way to tell it.
Edit:My ****** ass forgot to tie it all up pretty like:
The quick resource is needed because without no one has any interest. Most people who want to know an answer want a quick answer. But the quick answer invites the longer explanation and there you have debate. Endless and forever debate.
We ain't even decided is Tom Cribb cheated Tom Molyneaux yet let alone if Tyson Fury is a liar liar wolf crier.Last edited by Marchegiano; 02-07-2024, 12:22 PM.dan-b likes this.

He's certainly got stitches but it's funny that they've got footage of the incident but only using their webcam from the 90s. What use would that footage be besides refuting conspiracy theories? They wouldn't be getting much sparring analysis out of that footage.
Personally, there's nothing I'd put past Fury. I'm not saying I believe he's lying; just that you'd have to be very naive (or a massive fanboy) to not at least question anything Fury says.
