    That si my man.

He is ready to take on all the corners. Bring on Canelo at 175, bring on a huge boy Ramirez, bring on Beterbiev in small ring..

Win or lose, I support this guy.

Should Beterbiev beat bivol, I think canelo will have the balls to take him on.

It's not that big of a deal unless you are tiny fighter in a huge ring or a huge fighter in a tiny ring.

        18ft or 20ft won't make much a difference
Sorry, totally disagree. Difference between 18 and 20 is 2 feet right or put it in percentage terms 20 is 11% bigger than 18 right?

But area works out different - area of 18 by 18 is 324 sq. ft. 20 by 20 is 400 sq. feet. Now you are talking about a 20 by 20 ring being 23% larger in area.

For a boxer like Bivol this allows him a lot more room to side-step Beterbiev and for 39 year old Beterbiev it means he has to expend a lot more energy catching up to Bivol. Maybe 23% more energy ? If he uses 23% more energy in a 20 by 20 ring that means (all other things being equal) before the end of the 9th round he has used up all the energy he would have used in a 12 round fight in an 18 by 18 ring.

It doesn't work out exactly like that - but you can see why ring size can make a big difference - it did for Hagler against SRL.

If Beter was a crude slugger, I'd be comfortable picking Bivol. But Beter has clear boxing skills and cuts the ring off and touches a fighter up between lighter punches and harder punches, there is a lot going on with him inside the ring. I have to go with a late stoppage with him over Bivol. In my mind I draw up two scenarios but the one where Beter imposes his will seems to prevail.

He will not be using 23% more energy. He isnt running a marathon.

It is literally just another step going backwards or forwards. Perhaps Bivol needs the psychological comfort of a larger ring.

You're assuming Bivol wants to use up as much area as he can. That's not really what he does though. He blinds with a combo right as they try to press, or takes a shot on the guard and immediately exits out that side, then makes a tight circle to put the aggressor on the ropes and opens up on them. He's not just on his bike. That's the big difference. If you want to box from the outside by running then a bigger ring helps by giving you more room. But Bivol wants to use his movement now offensively than that, and that style doesn't require as much space. Just enough to circle out and put them on the ropes.

Funny how the energy changes when it’s not Canelo,Remember Saunders vs Alvarez ? Canelo was going to have an 18 foot ring and this forum went crazy with Canelo hate .When Beterbiev does it, apparently no problem. Funny how that works. Btw Canelo let Saunders have a 22 foot ring before he broke Billie Joe's face .
