If Golovkin were named Garcia, he would have been a bigger draw and so had a better resume in his prime.

When Andrade had the WBO, Munguia was in line too. Why does it matter if the titlist isn't popular? It's still a title shot, and most boxers aren't popular anyway. We both know Munguia not fighting Janibek/Andrade isn't really about popularity; GBP has been carefully moving him along because they don't want to risk a potential Mexican star, especially with Ryan Garcia being an absolute basket-case and Virgil Ortiz's career being in potential jeopardy due to illness. GBP has positioned Munguia into a Canelo fight, and good on them for being able to do so. Munguia doesn't need the training wheels anymore.

If GGG was Mexican, he would have 2 wins against Canelo.

He would be such a big draw, that Canelo would be considered paper champion.

If Canelo was Alvotov from Ukraine, he would have like 5-6 losses already and guys here would call him a bum and a gatekeeper.

If Bivol was Benitez from Mexico, he would have beaten Alvotov 12-0 in rounds and guys here would be like "wtf did Benitez even fight that fat Ukrainian cab driver".

i actually dont care about him, dont think ive made a single post about him. im not a fan of certain nationalities/ethnicities. projection?

the point was munguia turned down fighting a top 5 guy for a belt and guess who he fought instead? jimmy kelly and Gonzalo Gaston Coria. people no one care about, people who arent good, people who dont have belts, people who arent ranked etc...

and you essentially proved my point by saying "oh hes not a big enough name for the great munguia" how or why did munguia get put on a pedestal? cause hes not an eastern euro. he has auto fans that will support him cause of his nationality/ethnicity. a lot of the eastern euro guys that you malign constantly actually fight good competition or try to. munguia does not try to and is being protected and its clear. thats the big hurdle we are having in this conversation. also what happens is when guys fight better competition they are more likely to lose so its common to hear detractors say "see he was overrated" "he was just hype" happened with ggg, kovalev, etc...yet they had really good careers. if munguia loses which he already should have to guys like dennis hogan he has no career on which to fall back on.
