But don't you think it's silly to lock yourself up in a rematch obligation that already expired? Not his fault they were unable to stage the rematch. Likely reason why you think this way is because Crawford probably only got 2 fights left, thus is in no rush for the rematch. What if this is some young guy who fights 3x a year and wants to do other fights? If it was renegotiated, then it's his fault and is solely responsible for locking himself up. Point is, this cannot be set in stone.

Covid ****ed with a few guys careers, unfortunately. Beterbiev just beat Gvozdyk a few months before lockdowns. Usyk had just moved up to HW, It sucks how guys who were in their early to mid 30's just lost 2 years of their careers. Inoue just won the WBSS tournament and then Covid hit, but luckily he was in his mid 20's. Older guys just lost their ****ing primes. Especially guys who were in other countries with worse lockdowns.

Even in Inoue's case, given that he literally had a Casimero fight set for April of 2020 for a three belt unification and that getting can'Xed added atleast a full year or possibly two before he went up to 122 so it still hurts in thn long run. He had gotten two belts at WBSS and would've made three at spring 2020, which at that point one could've hoped for undisputed at the end of 2020 instead of 2022.

These rematch discussions need to end. Why people keep bringing it up is beyond comprehension. It's over. It's not going to happen. Crawford is free to take other fights without restrictions.
