Comments Thread For: Ryder: Munguia Obviously Coming To Use Me As Steppingstone [To Canelo]; I've Got Other Plans

John Ryder admires Jaime Munguia's ambition. That same type of motivation drove Ryder to accept challenging fights the veteran super middleweight needed to win to land his own shot at boxing's cash cow, Canelo Alvarez. Ryder is sure, though, that Munguia's team made a matchmaking mistake by selecting the British southpaw as the opponent Munguia must beat to remain a potential opponent for Alvarez's next fight.

Munguia and company relying that Ryder is not a big puncher which is a pattern they have when the pick an adversary.

If Ryder has some of his stuff he will give Munguia a real hard time in this fight. Ryder is tough and persistent.

      Fact's! Ryder has 18 KO's in 38 fight's, that gives him about a 48% knockout ratio.
Although that doesn't make him a puncher, he can and has stopped almost half of his opponent's.
He is as tough as nails, that's why they call him gorilla, he goes ape **** on his opponent's.
Munguilla is also tough as nails, and this should be a real fierce battle between to hard nosed warrior's.
Ryder has to jump on top of Munguia from the start of the fight, and not let up for a second, in order to have a chance of beating Munguilla.
You have to execute your plans, don't talk about it, be about it, save all of your energy for the fight, you're going to need it.

Ive been heavy on my criticism of Munguias boxing in the past and nothings changed. But this talk of Ryder being some type of spoiler because he lasted 12 with Canelo is hilarious. Tbh, Munguia would last 12 against Canelo, probably land a bit more than Ryder but ultimately lose the same way.

Anyways, (again) not a fan of Munguia but he beats Ryder by a close UD or late stoppage

I would not expect Munguia will last 12 against Canelo. He gets hit clean too often. Derevyanchenko rocked him more than once and he's no puncher.
