I'm normally not a fan or rematches for title holders but in this case if Teraji can't get an unification match set up a rematch isn't going to make me cry.

It is a match that if Canizales' last bit of gas pedal came one round earlier the results may have been reversed. Either way definitely a draw/1R difference fight though.

Now that its over, I'm just glad that both fighters don't seem injured (outside usual boxing injury) that we have to worry for bad news.

But man...admitting that I am jumping the gun early, but this already got to be atleast an honorable mention for FOTY.

Barely three weeks in the year and already a FOTY candidate fight, at a unified championship match too.

Given the score at the end of R8 (75-75, 76-74, 76-74), without any more knockdowns Canizales literally could only win if he won all four of rounds 9-12 (which would've given him UD with 115-111, 114-112, 114-112). Judging from the final score it seems like they all gave Teraji and Canizales two rounds a piece, but even if Canizales won three rounds to one, that would've ended up with a 114-112 (for Canizales) and 113-113, 113-113 for overall draw which wouldn't have moved the belts..
