Comments Thread For: Catterall 'Grateful' For IBF Opportunity To Fight Hitchins; Taylor Rematch 'Much Bigger Fight For Me'

Jack Catterall couldn't seriously consider an IBF elimination match with Richardson Hitchins when an offer for the higher-profile, more meaningful fight he truly wants was presented to him.

I think Catterall is a very good fighter. But, Hitchins just has more to his game. It’s a fight we need to see though

Catterall is starting to sound pathetic with his pining and begging for a Taylor rematch
as his first option when it’s obvious Taylor sees fighting Catterall again as his last option if nothing else comes up. That’s why he’s asking Hearn for crazy money to fight Catterall. Catterall needs to move on with his career and stop leaving money on the table waiting for Taylor.

I understand but Jack already whipped Taylor. The IBF route is more reliable

Taylor has no belts. He's irrelevant until he wins another title. There's no legacy for Catterall fighting a man he's already beaten. Even if the official scores say otherwise, the entire world knows Taylor lost.

Jack would have been better off fighting for the IBF belt. If he won it then the Taylor rematch was still there and he would have secured an even bigger bag for it. He would have been able to demand A-side billing.

I actually think Catterall maybe the best of the lot. He's an absolute southpaw handful.

But, unless hes moving up (which may be the case), rejecting the title shot is ridiculous.

Catterall should be dropped from ibf rankings for 12months for refusing to move forward with the Hitchens fight.

He's allowing Taylor to waste his peak fighting and earning years. But that's on him.

Noone particularly cares whether catterall and Taylor fight each other again; that ship has sailed already.
