And a year later, Haney is thriving (in terms of career) by going up to 140 as the former undisputed 135 and got a belt, and is on track to get more. Shakur is living off one (instead of four) belt that Haney vacated after an extremely lackluster (to say it VERY politely) performance to get it, and now is still struggling to find a dance partner.
I truly believed that Shakur could've won the fight had he took it back then...imagine where he would be now if so? As the undisputed champion at 135 and Top Rank, he most definitely would've gotten a Loma fight next instead of Loma fighting Kambosos. In between he would've been able to call out anyone in 135 at a 75-25 split. Most of all he probably could've talked enough **** to force Tank to have to accept a fight or essentially admit defeat by a full duck for more money.
The biggest question of all...did the DLS match get Shakur that much more money (if any) than the 25 split from Haney would've gotten him, not to mention the three extra belts?
