  • I know Floyd is saying he won't fight Mosley, but you never know....money talks for one plus he knows Mosley is one of his only legitimate options I think he wants Shane to sweat. I think there is always more to these things than there appears to be, because these fighters definitely see each other around PLUS they are both dealing with Schaffer and DLH at Goldenboy so after the big money fight with the Cotto/Pac winner, Oscar will definitely look to make Floyd-Shane happen.

Then they will build up further hype by showing all thats going on now and have Floyd saying "I know I said I won't fight him but he's annoyin me so imma shut him up" and Shane saying "he's scared and I backed him into a corner to make him man up an fight me"

All in all I think we just have to wait and see how it all pans out and shouldn't criticise Floyd for what he is saying but rather for what he does. So let's wait til Mayweather actually makes a decision before getting high blood pressure over him supposedly "ducking" this guy and that guy.

      • WOW! This guy amazes me more and more every time i hear about his comments. Alright, so you dont need Cotto/Pacquiao or Mosley which have got to be the biggest draws in boxing but your all about money, and it can not be heart because thats one thing this fighter does not have. The main thing that kills me about this guy is that he has fans. I honestly think he wants wipe out the lightweight division and he'll still get mad props.Seriously what options are there other than these big draws that pose a threat ??? I just can't believe how long he's gone hand picking his opponents and continues to do so and still have the nerve to call himself the best. Another thing .... That weight **** he pulled on JMM is strait up Fuct up he straight up spit on JMM face and made it even more clear he had no fucn chance. He still gets mad props for that win and that was the most bitchmove of his career.

        • Ninety percent of the people who comment on this site, most of whom are Mayweather haters, don't know a damn thing about boxing. You believe everything you read and hear, even if it's speculation and you run with it as if it has already happened.

If the haters knew anything about boxing, you would know that this is all part of the trash talk that takes place in boxing. Ninety percent of boxing is trash talk and 10 percent actually involves fighting. Oscar De La Hoya said he would never fight Fernando Vargas. He said he would never fight Mayweather. He said he wouldn't move up to 160 to fight Hopkins. He siad he would never fight Cotto, but was planning to before he lost to Margarito. Freddy Roach said Pac did not need Mayweather. So did Bob Arum. Now Arum is saying he will try to negotiate a fight with Mayweather for Pacquaio after the Cotto fight. So, was Arum lying before or is he lying now?

Mayweather will end up fighting Mosley because it is one of the biggest fights available to him. He will also end up fighting the Cotto/Pac winner unless Pac lets his ego get in the way of what would be three times as much money as he has ever earned in his career.

i hope your right that this is just part of the buisness of boxing but from floyds track record at ww i wouldnt be surprised if he ducks mosley and cotto. i honestly think he is hoping that pac wins because he knows pac is his easiest fight and doesnt want to get in the ring with a big strong ww who could do damage to him. the worst part about it is he has the talent to beat everyone at ww he just doesnt have the balls to try it. lets be real about this no way in hell jmm is a bigger fight then shane mosley if he really was about the money and proving he was the best that would have been his comeback fight followed by the pac cotto winner. when he goes on espn and says things like mosley has 5 losses and he is irrelevent and then fights a lightweight with 4 losses he loses credibility and you cant defend that

            • The irony- the fans want it, the media hype is there, the potential to make tons of money is there, yet Floyd's main reason not to fight is that it won't produce any revenue.
It kind of makes sense, oh wait it doesn't really make sense

              • He said "that was a mature mayweather" in the ring with Mosley. Wonder what he meant by that.

                • [QUOTE=Dave Rado;6320207]That's because Mayweather has been pricing himself out of a fight with Pac, saying he would not accept under 60% of the purse. So Roach and Arum responded by saying if that's his terms forget it, Pac doesn't need him.

But Mosley has not said he won't fight Mayweather unless he gets at least 60% of the purse, quite the reverse, he's said he's willing to take the short end of the money. [QUOTE]

You are absolutely right. Pacquaio doesn't need Mayweather. He can make $5 million fighting Mosley or $4 million fighting a third fight with Marquez or $2 million fighting Timothy Bradley. He doesn't need the $20 million he would make against Mayweather when he can fight four other fighters and make the same amount.

You are also right about Mosley. He is not demanding 60 percent against Mayweather. He is simply begging him for a fight and will take whatever Mayweather is willing to give him. However, Mosley WAS demanding 60 percent in 2006 when Mayweather wanted to fight him and he WAS asking for $10 million in 1999 when Mayweather called him out, even though, at the time, Mosley's biggest purse had been $500,000.

In their last five fights, two of which have been against the same people, Mayweather has sold twice as many PPV buys as Pacquaio. You can try to feed everyone that bull**** about this being due to Mayweather's opponents instead of him, but no one (not even the promoters or boxers themselves) believe that except the haters. That is why Mayweather will get 60 percent of the purse against Pac or anyone else he fights.

                  • I can't picture Floyd not fighting at least two of the threesome of Pac, Cotto, and Mosley soon. Who else could he fight and not get dismissed as a cherry picking clown for? I still hold hope despite not being a fan of his that Floyd cares about his legacy.

I'll give him one stay busy fight against a top 10 welterweight since Pac-Cotto is in November and Shane's going to fight Berto in January. If one of those three or Berto if he somehow beats Mosley isn't his first fight after whatever he wants to do in December, he is a fraud.

I was thinking that there is so much back talking and acting that you never really know what to expect. It is like they tease you to check the fight interest and then completely dismiss the possibility and let the yearning for the fight to mount and when it is at its peak, they announce the fight to maximize the profits. Afterall, boxing is a business while most of the fans just like the fights and want "the best" to fight each other- kind of like an old school gladiator mentality where it is about honor, respect, and pride.

2 totally different sides of the coin that must coexist to feed both perspectives, the fans get what they want and so do the boxers/promoters.
