139 with a 20 foot ring? Malignaggi has got this. Must've paid Diaz quite a bit more for him to agree to this.

Well, in all reality any fight with either Klit is ****eful, boring and a disgrace to good boxing. They're good fighters but they don't make anyone want to watch the sport.

This fight had great action, controversy, and it's between two popular fighters especially Diaz. It's a rematch everyone wants to see and will have good action in it again.

Why would anyone rather see a Klit fight over this?

The fight will take place on December 12, on HBO, at an agreed upon catch-weight of 139-pounds - and a 20-foot ring too. In August, Diaz won a controversial unanimous decision over Malignaggi when they fought in Diaz's hometown of Houston, Texas. I've heard the rematch may take place in Atlantic City or Las Vegas. Diaz has already started training for the rematch. [details]

Yeah man, I was thinking the same thing. Last time the deal was terrible with Diaz getting less than the first fight, that being the reason he didn't take it along with it being elsewhere with the fight also being at 139. So, even though everything still favours Malignaggi, which is the other reason Diaz didn't want it, he took it this time. Obviously they have realised that Diaz and this fight are big enough to warrant it and they have made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

Anyway, on the fight: I agree with you that with all this stuff in favour of Paulie he will take it this time. It was still a very close fight last time, so it highly conceivable that Diaz still takes it if he can fight with more energy and if he doesn't get cut.

If the same Diaz that fought Marquez came in I think the scorecards actually could have been spot on in their scoring. He seemed much more lacklustre in that fight, though that also could have been due to the fact that Malignaggi is a big ****ing 140 pounds and was twice the size of Diaz. But, he didn't do anything in comparison to the aggression, head movement and constant activity of the Marquez fight. Again though, that could have been that Marquez is a small lightweight, and much older so he came in with the thought he could simply walk over Marquez. I don't know.

This fight will go two ways. It will either be close to the same as the first fight with Paulie controlling the general pace and fighting his fight more with his huge size advantage and reach keeping Diaz off or Diaz will come in in a much better mental state with the feeling as the underdog and be much more aggressive and use more volume and head movement which I think could turn it in his favour. Great fight I think either way. The last one was good.

I thought Diaz' feet looked pretty slow in their first fight, I think he doesn't really carry those extra pounds well. I mean at lightweight his feet were pretty quick, it allowed him to cut off the ring effectively and close the gap quick but at 138.5 he just looked plodding at times.

This fight will be at 139, I believe Malignaggi had trouble making 138.5, as you said, he's a pretty big 140 pounder, especially in the upper body and he looked filled out weighing in at 140 so I think that extra half a pound will do him well, give him more energy in the fight. The ring size should be a factor too, it gives him more room to move obviously as opposed to an 18 foot ring.

And the fight will be in neutral territory, Diaz won't have the crowd behind him nearly as much as he did in their first fight, that could be a pretty big thing with a pressure fighter if and when he needs that extra little something that the crowd might be able to give him in Houston.

Yeah man, that's a great point. I must admit that I'm really surprised he's even considering moving up to 140. He's not a big 135 fighter and really if anything he should, once and for all, lose the damn baby fat and get down to 130 where he could be a truly devastating little fighter.

His team would surely have told him that a move to 140 is not a good idea. He's just too small for 140. The JWW guys start to get to the size of WW's that can still dry out enough to get down. All the champions are big dudes, including Paulie. Diaz just doesn't stand a chance against some of the big guys that are tricky and can also punch damn hard, unlike Paulie.

Still, you could be completely right. He did look slow and uncomfortable at the weight. Those few extra pounds just don't work for him at all. He is one fighter that needs to dry out and get down to a better weight. Never should be a 140 fighter. Either 130 or 135. That's it for Diaz.

Well, we shall see how this one turns out. I think Paulie will take this one. Maybe even comfortably, but I won't count Diaz out completely. If he doesn't get cut he's a great little fighter with a lot of heart and I can imagine him scraping it out on volume and aggression. He did hit Paulie a hell of a lot in the first fight but just didn't seem to be able to keep it up and, like you said, seemed much slower and somewhat flat..... or maybe just fat.

I agree, I think he could make 130 if he just made the extra effort to do it but money talks, there aren't many big fights to be made at 130 if at all, 135 is going through a sort of transitional phase, 140 is where the money's at right now, I guess Diaz and his team want in on that.
