This is a pointless fight - their natural weight classes are too far apart (I would argue 3 to 4 divisions when you look at natural physique / size and age) - whichever way you look at it one party will be hugely disadvantaged so even if Davis (or Haney) wins - there would be a question mark on it. Even if Haney won I wouldn't respect it because of the huge size difference. I like what Haney did with Prograis as he took risks moving upto a new division and taking on a dangerous puncher who was very durable.

Also I think it's on whomever is chasing greatness to take the risk and not ask for rehydration clauses, catchweights and any other types of nonsense from other. Personally I think they should stop talking about it and pursue their own paths. There are tons of great match-ups for both. Shakur and Tank is more logical IMHO even though the same rules apply - it's just not as huge gap.

He is easier to beat than Tank is, and he don't have the profile Tank does, this forum jumps on KO guys like a flea on a dog, in my time here Ive seen it with every guy that stops a string of fighters even when they low key fighters, Mike Tyson made his reputation from blowing out B graders and soon as he got to real fighters he lost to them. I think Matias will be exposed the same way he is not going to walk down a Haney or Shakur-style guy off their class.

I made a thread a while back entitled Edgelords' favourite: the unproven puncher

"The bloviating coming from both sides is extraneous."

As soon as I read this line, I knew the article had been written By Hans Themistode and his handy thesaurus.

Look at Haney fought his last two fights. Yea he fought Loma and Regis, but look how they looked in their previous fights. You could argue that both could have lost those fights. And Haney isn't trying to unify either cause he actually has to fight other fighters instead of collecting all the belts from mid tier champ who got lucky

Imagine being in the one sport you can legally kill a man but you stick to twitter fingers instead...
Christ how soft these newer generation of fighters are.

Davis is full of shit! He doesn’t want that L appearing on his record. Tank is a counter puncher but Devin Haney is boxer/counter puncher who likes to work behind his jab.

However, the difference is Devin can fight and defeat Gervonta at long range. Whereas, Gervonta would have to sell out completely.

He would have to increase his punch volume and take too many risks just to get in range to land punches on Haney. Which makes this is a very bad style matchup for Davis.

Haney would never engage, trade or exchange punches with him. He is simply not a slugger like Ryan Garcia or Rolly Romero.

That’s an easy question. If it doesn’t make dollars then it doesn’t make cents.

I honestly can't see this as him actually calling tank out.. he's way bigger than him now and he NEVER called him out THIS WAY when they were both at 35.. they are SO DESPERATE for money fights BECAUSE THEY CANT GENERATE ANY, they need to attach their name to a star to draw.. Also, it's so blatant they don't want to fight Matias, he's there AND CALLED HANEY OUT.. And they are terrified of taking on Sandor Martin (the mandatory), or Richardson Hitchins.. high risk low reward fights for him.. this doesn't boil down to legacy, it boils down to funding the lifestyle he wants but he can't generate the money on his own brand lol.. lets see how the desperation plays out

He just fought a Loma and Regis. Tank will never in is life do that. Doesn’t he deserve a big money fight after that? Who would you rather have Tank fight? Another ho-hum Hector Luis Garcia type. Will he ever dare to be great for once? We already know he ain’t going anywhere close to Haney, Teo, Shakur etc but it is easy to see why if y’all keep denigrating his peers and sprucing him up for knocking out nobodies and dehydrating fighters. You should want to see how he measures up for once against a quality prime fighter and stop regurgitating all these desperation and payday narrative.
