Comments Thread For: Jai Opetaia-Mairis Briedis Cruiserweight Championship Rematch In Play For Feb. 17 In Riyadh

Jai Opetaia and Mairis Briedis will run it back after all. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that plans are in place for a cruiserweight championship rematch on February 17 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The two will meet for Opetaia's lineal crown and potentially for the IBF title that the unbeaten Australian was previously forced to vacate for failure to defend in an ordered mandatory title defense versus Briedis.

Opetaia suffered a horrific jaw injury in the first fight. He'll hope and pray that the second fight goes much smoother lol

Saudis signing checks. Does IBF want those sanctioning fees?

It is a quality fight by itself and a rematch for Briedis. But not much of a step forward for Jai.

I see Opetaia winning by stoppage this time. I really like how active he is. The best thing for staying sharp , building a high profile , and making money is for a boxer to be active. These once a year fighters will be forgotten soon after they retire.
