Behind the ear shots are completely legal i dont see the point of people calling it out.

As for the behind the head, its on you if you put your back of the head in the way of punches.

Seems to happen to every Beterbiev opponent though.

The thing is, just because the opportunity is there, doesn’t mean you hit your opponent behind the head, just cause you can. It seems like Beterbiev is the only fighter to take advantage of that.

And he seems to aim for it. It doesn’t look like some form of innocent mistake.

He throws his punches in some type of wrap around way to catch the back of his opponents head. He also feints to the body and then goes over the top, to catch the back of the head of his opponent who he just tricked into exposing the back of his head.

He does a lot little subtle things to get it done (expose the back of the head), but he does know what he’s doing and he does it on purpose.

Ref in the Mbilli fight correctly called it like it is, a KD behind the head was voided because it was behind the head.
