Comments Thread For: Jason Moloney Edges Saul Sanchez in Fire-Fight To Retain WBO Title

Jason Moloney managed to hold on to his WBO bantamweight title by winning a back-and-forth dogfight Saturday night in Quebec City, Canada. Australia's Moloney survived a cut over his right eye and some troublesome moments against game challenger Saul Sanchez and rallied in the championship rounds to win a majority decision on the Artur Beterbiev-Callum Smith undercard at Videotron Centre. Sanchez stung Moloney with numerous uppercuts and made Moloney work throughout their 12-round bout, which thoroughly entertained the crowd.

4 points is way too wide for Moloney. I don't agree with that at all. That's not the fight I saw.

I was watching the horrible UFC card because I thought they weren't going to broadcast the card here in Brazil. To my surprise, I managed to catch this fight right at the beginning. Great fight. I scored 115-113 Moloney.

Great fight! I think Moloney edged it but I'd like to see a rematch.

It happens easy with fights so close, only have to edge one guy over a few rounds and the scores can be wide margin all of a sudden. Good fight Jason by a split in m,y book but I can see how they could score it like that for either.

I agree I wasn’t necessarily scoring it, but I can see how you could have it something like 8 rds - 4 rds Mahoney.

When you have a lot of swing rounds, scores like that can be justified.

I just think the swing rounds leaned toward the Arum fighter a little more than they should have which makes me question things.

Entertaining fight for sure , I had money on sanches, but I thaught Maloney looked the more comfortable of the two and no complaints in money lost , Sanchez landed the cleaner punches but Maloney made him very uncomfortable pushing him back
