  • Comments Thread For: Hearn Wants More Info About Atypical Findings In Beterbiev's VADA Tests; Fight With Smith Will Go On

By Keith Idec - Eddie Hearn didn't accuse Artur Beterbiev of using performance-enhancing drugs Thursday. Callum Smith's promoter made it perfectly clear, however, that his company, Matchroom Boxing, wants more information related to Voluntary Anti-Doping Association tests that revealed in mid-December that Beterbiev had elevated levels of HGH and testosterone in his blood and urine. Hearn discussed the results of Beterbiev's December 6 tests, which were

Agreed there should be more transparency. Don't agree with Eddie Hearns hypocritical stance of calling for it only when it suits him. He covered up Benns first fail. He covered up Whytes fail. He cries foul on other promotors fighters.....and comes out swinging when anyone questions someone he promotes. Its similar to when Eubank Sr. claimed Eddie tried to kill Jr by offering him up a juiced up Benn....then 3 months later called out Benn to fight his other son Harlem.

Oh, I got you. That's TS's point, that one went over my head

I actually forgot that Hearn covered up Whyte's test fail and didn't even inform Rivas team. Scandalous stuff that is.

That example right there is the epitome of where we need transparency.

Why do I feel like Hearn only wants more transparency in testing so he knows more about how to get around it for his fighters?

The irony here is that Beterbiev's corner is Marc Ramsay and Russ Anber, same guys who were in Rivas corner after the secret hearing and the failed PED tests from Whyte.

I had a long conversation with Russ about a month after that where he revealed a few things to me that I'm keeping between us, but I really wish Eddie had said this with Marc and Russ in the room.

Fair enough. I'm sure Hearn can contact VADA and ask for more information on behalf of his fighter. I find it odd that he did not first request VADA to provide additional information to explain what it meant by "raised levels" and, instead, decided to go the the media and insinuate on blast that something underhanded might be occurring. That, in my opinion, is unprofessional. It actually makes Hearn look as if he's blatantly slandering Beterbiev, maybe to gain a psychological advantage before the fight.
