Apparently he hasn't violated the rules so I won't hold it against him but it seems pretty su****ious at his age.

It's not a substance he's been caught for, just an alarm bell more than anything.

Usually means that they will now test him a lot more. Jon Jones in the UFC had a similar thing except it was the other way around in extremely low test levels.

Both suggest the same thing; PED use.

        Boxing's administration is shambolic.

With that said, Hearn's persecution complex is tedious. He even raised alleged double standards at his Oxford Union address when it wasn't even relevant to the question asked. He's been telling us for years he's the best promoter in the world. Well, that attracts more attention. He can't have it both ways.

“”VADA follow up testing all came back negative”

so he just had higher levels of test/HGH than someone his age? No ****, how many 39 year old world level athletes are out there?

Are you under the impression that because he's 39 and a world class athlete that his test levels should be though the roof?

Because they shouldn't, in fact at the time these findings were found during his camp they'd typically be on the lower side for any athlete, let alone a 39 year old one.

It's an indicator for PED use, it's why these specific tests are done in the first place. He will be heavily tested from now on after this.

Isn't that circular logic? He's a "world level athlete" therefore any atypical reading is to be expected. In that case it wouldn't be an atypical reading because it would be anticipated for a "world level athlete".

I'm not accusing Beterbiev of anything but to dismiss the finding because (1) Hearn is talking about it in a smug and irritating way and (2) we don't understand what it means is wrongheaded in my opinion.

Wouldn't surprise me if he gets caught. He'll be like Lance ArmStrong. His entire career would come into question and they'd probably erase his achievements as done to ArmStrong. You could then forget that any fighter would possibly end their career having KO'd every opponent, lol.

Granted, I'm blowing this out of proportion as Eddie has done here. For all I know, it's all for nothing and Beterbievwill turn out to be a clean boxer who simply has dynamite in his hands.

I think people generally should stop pretending to know what all this stuff means. Remember when everyone became an overnight PED expert in December 2009? Or expert virologists at the start of COVID?

This just highlights how poorly boxing is administered and how VADA is at best a sticking plaster rather than a fundamental solution.

The "everyone is at it" brigade are tedious too. These tests are being done for a reason.

His levels clinically should be around 430-465 ng/dL. No one has pin-pointed the difference between an athlete of his level vs a couch potato with a pot belly drinking a beer watching his fights. Post the ng/dL findings. Don't give hem 475 or some BS like that which I willing to bet it is? If he is in the 515+ range, then we can talk. All they have to do is post the findings.

You couldn't have said it better. Almost every one on here hasn't the first clue when it comes to this topic, yet they talk as if they do. It's incredibly weird.

VADA and USADA are the best testing agencies out there but there's only so much they can do unless they are with the athletes 24/7 which is obviously not possible. There's always a way around the tests.

This finding doesn't prove anything in regards to PED use with Beterbiev but it definitely points to it. They essentially use these findings as an alarm bell.
