this is why Martinez gets the nod vs those other guys, if you're gonna fight garbage, find yourself the smelliest pile and trash it!!!
Look, obviously you're correct. I mean, obviously, that's what his management is thinking. What I'm saying is, it's a bad philosophy. Fans are fickle, and a lotta people are gonna lose a little respect for Peter if this fight comes off.

Ya that was a pretty big mistake on my part.
Good Karma for you calling me on it.

I agree. Sam Peter needs a name fighter to give him a bit more luster. I think Donald would be a perfect opponent. Hell, fight Williamson and destroy him. People will appreciate that more than a Martinez win, considering that Williamson just KD'ed Wlad and beat McCall.

Were Ray Robinson and his manager ****** for fighting a bunch of nobodys in between title defenses. Descent fighters like Tommy Bell, Eddie Finazzo or Georgie Abrams. They were not world beaters but they were ok fighters. Alot of fighters in the older days used to fight regularly, against whoever stepped up for them with a challenge. Staying active is part of staying sharp, they understood this as do the managers of today. The only difference is that today a loss seems to be something on par with catching a sexually transmitted desease in the publics eyes. If they loss today, they are written off as damaged goods. If they lost in the older days, they kept them fighting and the public did not label them as anything but a fighter.

I like the fact that this guys managers are letting him fight and earn some money in between big bouts. He will learn his trade all the more and also may feel a bit of a boost in confidence knowing that he is not walking on egg shells to get to the title..........Rockin'
