Who should Vergil Ortiz fight before facing Tim Tszyu.

Vergil Ortiz's barely warmed up and shaked off ring rust before Tony Weeks stopped the bout in the first round.

If Ortiz and Tszyu were making a deal for the summer with Tim fighting Erickson Lubin in March, who should Vergil fight?

    There is:

Charles Conwell (18-0, 13 KOs): He is a hard hitting contender in his prime. Accidentally killed Patrick Day in the tenth round knockout.

James Metcalf (25-2, 15 KOs): Experienced vet coming off wins against Kerman Lejarraga (Avanesyan's second best win) and Dennis Hogan whom Tim knocked out in the fifth round some time ago.

Liam Smith (33-4-1, 20 KOs): Gritty gatekeeper with experience against the top. Was recently stopped by Eubank Jr.

Brian Mendoza (22-3, 16 KOs): Tszyu just gave him a UD beat down after going consecutive streak of big wins over Rosario and Fundora. Vergil have a common opponent with Tim, but it seems rather recent.

Israil Madrimov (8-0-1, 6 KOs): Uzbek boxer with a deep amateur, is currently in talks with Magomed Kurbanov. Has a win over Michel Soro.

Erickson Lubin (26-2, 18 KOs): Currently coming off a controversial win over Jesus Ramos, is rumored to be in talks to fight Tim soon.

Brian Castaņo (21-1-2): Has not been active since 2022. Could probably hear something soon.

Radzhab Butaev (15-1, 12 KOs): After fighting and losing to Stanionis in a competitive bout, he moved up knocking out the Uzbek golden Olympian Fazliddin Gaibnazarov (Was 11-1, 6 KOs) in the third round.

Sebastian Fundora (20-1, 13 KOs): Is in talks to fight Sergii Bocachuk (22-1, 22 KOs), would be a interesting fight Ortiz vs Fundora if both fighters were in a winning streak.

Danny Garcia (37-3, 21 KOs): Has been quiet of late, had a performance against Benavidez Jr recently and was in talks for Erislandy Lara at 160, but nothing has been mentioned for months.

Jesus Ramos is coming off a loss and Xander Zayas is currently stepping up. I believe both will be ready by 2025 to fight at the top echelon.

Maybe out of the choices, I'd say Metcalf. He looks strong as an ox and is experienced. Were his only two losses decisions or KOs? I can't remember.

Brian Mendoza, and KO him, that would go a long way in building the fight.

1 loss by decision Kieron Conway (20-3) and 1 loss by knockout in the eleventh round against Ted Cheeseman (17-3-1), I think that his losses are compensated by his wins against Denis Hogan and Lejarraga.

While I do think a knockout win over Mendoza would make a statement to build up the fight, I feel like Brian recently coming off the loss would be seen as a softened up cherry pick.

Not that he is an easy fighter to beat.

Anyone in the top 10 will do.

Has he fought any in his career yet?

                  - - Let Verg fight the main support on the undercard against slopoke Danny and his fat Daddy. Easy rounds to look good that make a superfight vs Tszyu.
