  • Comments Thread For: Vergil Ortiz, With Move To 154, Believes Crawford Fight Can Still Happen

Sometimes, boxing can be a crapshoot. Vergil Ortiz Jr. ostensibly checked all the boxes. He was big, strong, didn't play around with his food, and got all of his opponents out of there before the sound of the final bell. His placement amongst the rest of his welterweight peers was unambiguous.

Overlooking his opponent, fresh off life threatening physical damage.

    Might be an upset coming

      You know from experience
Wasn’t Canelo supposed to face the two Charlo’s and then the face of combat sports Errol Spence Jr ?
How did that work out for combat sports ?
Leicesterage overthought his opponent according to his hatred

Not when your opponent has all KO losses in his record.

Still, I myself thought Ortiz might have some residual problem with the health scare stuff. We'll see.

We just saw DuBWAH - who has all quit (KO) losses on the record - pull it out against Big Baby Miller against all odds.

You're right. Then again, Lawson is from Ghana, they're usually pretty tough from there.

But I see more a bit of struggle for Ortiz before prevailing, rather than a genuine upset.

PS to be fair, the oddsmakers were favoring DDD before the fight, even if I myself thought Miller would win.

It’s not really a JMW debut when they’re fighting at a 156 catch weight… Pumped to see Vergil back in action, but it would be nice to see it at the championship weight if that’s where he ultimately plans to settle

That's an entertaining fight. It would be fun while it lasts, or could even go the distance.

You don't want to get hit too much by Crawford though. Vergil would have to improve his defence a lot.

This is his first fight back in forever. It’s obvious to me this is a safety precaution. They trying to bring him back to the game without putting so much stress on his body. Every fight after this one will be at 154 I’m sure. At least his next few

I respect Ortiz, but shut that talk down. You declined & ducked Crawford not once but TWICE and the WBO president and Bud have confirmed. Work your way back up, you + Boots should fight each other. Bud smokes you.
