1. Was 20 years old when he fought Gavril.

2. His life was down spiraling with his brother Jose Banevidez Jr being shot in the leg and his uncle Moises Valladares dying by having an altercation with the police.

3. Weight cutting and fighting with the flu.

4. Ronald Gavril had a deep amateur pedigree with a record of 165-15, with Benavidez having near to none.

5. Gavril hasn't beaten no one of note, but had a solid record of (18-1, 14 KOs) while David was (18-0, 17 KOs).

It's not better than beating John Ryder, but I don't think David Benavidez whose now 27 years old would have difficulty beating him considering what he did to Roamer Alexis Angulo and Anthony Dirrell at a younger age.
