Comments Thread For: Murtazaliev-Culcay: Vacant IBF Junior Middleweight Title Fight Heads To Purse Bid

The teams for Bakhram Murtazaliev and Jack Culcay will wait until the new year for instructions on next steps. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that the ordered vacant IBF junior middleweight title fight will head to a purse bid hearing. The development comes one day after the sanctioning body-imposed deadline passed without a deal in place following a negotiation period of more than 30 days.

    What an awful article.

It says that Culcay was a former "full title challenger" but he was not.

Culcay was the WBA interim champion who was upgraded to WBA Regular Champion before the Andrade fight, and Andrade beat him for the Regular title and then vacated it. But in any case, Erislandy Lara had the real WBA (Super) Championship the entire time. Culcay's belt was fake and Andrade's belt was fake. Andrade later won a vacant WBO strap, and that's where his real title claim at 154 comes from.

    Sloppy garbage article.

It's not about writing skills, it's about a basic understanding of the facts. Anyone who mistakes a WBA secondary belt for a "full" title is spreading misinformation, full stop.
